Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok so I sold my first print.

I made 20 or thirty b + w 8 x 10 prints of shots I took over the years. my plan was to maybe make some money out of a hobby as Im out of work at minute.

I showed to some friends to ask for their opinion and gave a few as gifts. One friend loved two and I said, take them , she said I will take 1 but how much for the other, I hesitated and said 10, she said its worth at least 20 so I took 20.

Anyhow how much is a print worth, or how do you value your work? do you mount them or not. or any other hints

And how do you know if you are good enough or just fairly ok

It's worth what people will pay for it.

Cover your costs, cover your time and go from there.

€20 sounds about normal for an 8x10 print.

What you charge is really up to you.

    Best of luck.

Congrats and well done, i read somewhere that the usual thing to do is add up costs and time and treble it, though i dont sell my pics so haven had any experience of this, have seen 8x10's sellin for 20notes a lot though.

Well done. A sale is a sale. There is a big difference selling to a friend and the unwashed masses.

    I agree with Fajitas!.

Whatever people will pay, it's worth. There are two ways to look at it, though.

If you can make a little profit from it, that's great. However, if you don't make a profit from it but can still make enough money to subsidise a hobby/interest that you feel passionately about, which will enable you to continue to advance with that pursuit, I would say keep on going.

    Best of luck. :)

as someone said, selling to a friend is different from selling to a stranger. for a start, you've got to work a lot harder to sell to a stranger.
