Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Real Madrid away, now AC Milan at home, tough group?

AC Milan have a bit of a history with us. Annoyingly, they put us out at the quarter final stage in 02/03 with a sickening goal in the last minute (the worst feeling I've ever had watching a game), on their way to winning the cup in a dreadful final. That was the last time we've had a competitive European team.

Would have been interesting if Klaas had stuck around but he'd have been down the pecking order anyway. Nice to see him scoring freely again for Schalke.

I expect this to be a tough game, but I don't think we'll be destroyed. I'll be optimistic and hope for a draw seeing as we're at home and hope for Real beating Auxerre.

I'd be fairly confident Valencia will get a result against United. They saw off Sporting Gijon easily enough at the weekend who are a pretty decent team imo.

Im hoping for 3 points against Marsielle, we are missing Drogba and Lampard for this game but should have enough quality to take the win.

Did mcgeady play well for the whole game? Only after getting in the door now so only caught the end of the game. He finished the game so he must have being doing something right

1-0 to Ajax vs AC Milan.

Chelsea 2-0 up, penalty by Anelka.

That was the cockiest penalty I have seen in a long time. Really wish Anelka missed it...

Terrible miss by Robinho, one on one with the keeper, waits for the keeper to go down and puts it wide

Blatant handball by Ramos seconds before. It shouldn't have stood. Another underwhelming performance from Real.

    He didn't.

He did however perform a delicious nutmeg in the process of setting up the goal.

LOL, AC Milan = "The Geriatricos." Best thing I've ever heard on TV3.:pac:

Real were not good last night at all. But I'd say they are set up to play a team like Barca. Woeful finishing though.

    That means Barca will probably line up like this when in possession;

    Pornstar

    Pique
    Busquets
    Puyol

    --Alves
    Xavi----Mascherano
    Maxwell--

    Iniesta
    Villa
    Pedro

which will actually resort to a 3-5-2, with Iniesta tucking into midfield, and Villa/ Pedro switching around up front. Bit of a strange formation, because it looks very attacking, but the presence of both Busquets and Mascherano mean there's a solid foundation for Maxwell and Alves to bomb forward.

When out of possession it'll go back to a straight forward 4-3-3, with Busquets/Masch/Xavi being in midfield, and Iniesta up top with Villa/Pedro.

Great game to start off a very good night's football. Fancy Barca to win here, actually I fancy Barca to win every time they play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

I can't believe they're playing to defensive midfielders should really take one off

PS Valdes distribution has been woeful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Sky are fcuking clueless.

Apparently Barca possess no dribblers in the team apart from Messi!

Sure Pedro or Iniesta or Villa have never dribbled past a player!

    They really are useless.

Barca's shirts arent' light blue are they? More like light green I would have thought. As a compromise turquoise I suppose.

Lucky boy, Villa. Didn't have much faith in him, he's not been finishing too well lately.

That's a pretty decent looking team despite the injuries. Suppose the bench is pretty weak looking ?
