i've seen magicians and illusionists perform similar stunts if it helps you find closure.

It disturbs me greatly to think that a church may actually fake a piece of levitating bread in order to 'pull a crowd'. Either way it seems like it could be explained quite easily.

This video of an alleged levitating eucharist shows just how ingenious some of them priest fellahs can be. There is a Dutch company called Crealev who specialise in this kind of thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKbMtdhcY60&feature=related

    Have a look.

Ironically even if this was real, it would be considered blasphemous by the church!

According to the church, God's miracles do not work in this way. Therefore if it was real, the only conclusion you could come to is that either magic or the paranormal is at work. The church considers all forms of magic to be satanic in the origin of its power. If its the paranormal at work, the church forbids making contact with dead in any form. Mental!

I think that the Church honestly has its priorities mixed up... first of all, it dismisses magick, despite prayer working on a similar principle, then it denounces any talking to ghosts/spirits as "communicating with demonic entities". I mean seriously... in Christian beliefs, you have the Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost, as the Protestants would say over here). Why is it that talking to spirits is considered a work of Satan, yet you have the Holy Spirit, which is essentially the same thing? I think Faceman summarised it better than I did, but yeah, I find it beyond belief!

As for the video... maybe it was because I read the thread first, but I didn't find it all that remarkable. Of course, as Faceman said before, it would be considered blasphemy by the Church anyway. It amuses me that some people in the comments of the first video unquestioningly accept it. That really shows how brainwashed people are when it comes to religion.

Point taken , if the video would have been better then maybe it would have been a little more convincing so i have to agree with you all on this !

The church doesnt consider ghosts/spirits as demonic but the power of mediumship is considered satanic in origin, according to the church.

I agree that the views of the Catholic/Protestant/whatever Church are totally contradictory, and that they shoot themselves in the foot in that respect. As in, talking to spirits or other beings on some other plane is a Satanic act, yet you find some fella named Moses having a chat with a bush that's on fire, and Jesus rising from the dead and communicating messages in spirit form, etc. And an allegedly 12-14-year-old girl (Holy Mary) managing to get knocked up apparently without even having sex. Christ (an apt pun), the list goes on and on. It's stupid.

Then they have the Eucharist that's symbolic of Jesus' body and they say that, if people swallow the thing, they're ingesting part of Jesus' soul as well. Well, if that isn't supernatural in nature, I don't know what is. I'll be disliked for saying this but, essentially, I think the Bible, and all the other religions' holy D.I.Y. books, are a load of contradictory b0llocks and it baffles me how the Bible is the best-selling book of all time. Well, I suppose it's been pushed by a skip-load of publicity over the centuries that even Max Clifford would find impressive. But, yeah, it's true that it just shows how brainwashed people are by religion.

But, on-topic again, that Eucharist in that video is not levitating without human assistance in some shape or form.

Is there something to actually debate? All i saw was a circular thing, half hidden behind other things, looking like its a few inches off the top of the altar. Theres way too many variables there, and way too many ways to fake it, rather than jump to the conclusion that its paranormal.

Just to clarify my previous point. Communicating with the dead, from a christian perspective, is not an act of satanism in itself. Mediumship (as well as levitation, ESP, psychic powers) is deemed to have come from satanic influence. As far as Catholicism is concerned, the Devil is "the prince of the earth", and he has the power to influence mankind, if God permits.

The bible teaches faith and Christ in the bible tells people not to communicate with the dead, other than through prayer. The idea being that you have faith and trust in God wrt to the afterlife etc. The modern day church strongly believes that by communicating with the dead, other than by prayer, you can open yourself up to allowing demonic forces entry to your life.

Note dont beat me up for saying the above, Im only sharing my knowledge of the Church's view with you. Im not saying I agree with it or saying anyone are satanists! :)

Technically, by the church's definition, you are correct in saying its supernatural.

The church defines the natural and supernatural world as follows:

Supernatural: is the action which goes beyond any created nature. This form of activity belongs only to God.
Material nature can bring about surprising things, but it will always be according the the laws of the material cosmos. The devils can levitate an object in the air, transform something instantaneously, etc. They can do things which go beyond the possibilities of the material world, but they cannot go beyond the laws of their angelical natures, because they cannot do everything. They cannot do everything even in the material world. God, however, can create an organ from nothing; a devil cannot.

Preternatural: is the action which goes beyond the structure of the nature of the material universe. The fruit of the action of an angelical or demoniacal nature is said to be preternatural. The word comes from "praeter naturam", beyond nature.

Natural: is the action which is proper to the structure of nature. When we speak of nature, we are referring the nature of the material universe.

The above definitions were made by Fr. Jose Antonio Fortea Cucurull a few years back.

not really - i'm not a magician or an illusionist. i just believe in cancelling out every rational possibility before turning to the paranormal.

Your comment makes absolutely no sense , you refused to debate your answer because you are not a magician or an illusionist , so i have to be an magician or an illusionist to make an intelligent comment ?

Well its certainly odd but not entirely unheard of or certainly not 'proof' of anything. There are many a tale, all documented, from the East in Yogic circles that talk of not only levitating objects but people too. On the other hand, it could just be some weird natural phenomenon which aren't unheard of either. Also, as another user has mentioned, according to the church such an act could be deemed 'witchcraft', which is a sin.

I believe these guys are also devil worshipers and that they sacrifice children and animals in their spare time. (well levitation technology must be the work of the devil surely?);)

Wow.... what a joke. There are obvious power lines running out to the front of the altar.

Its hardly levitation... I once played a game where a puck "levitated" and you had to slap it into the opponents goal. Strangely no one thought i was communing with God.

This video is pathetic and depressing.

    DeV.

I was expecting it to fly around like a remote control helicopter whizzing past the heads of terrified octogenarian parishioners.

    fail.

I know, talk about underwhelming. Jedward's hair is more impressively gravity-defying than that piece of bread.

All this holy 'supernatural' stuff made me think of that 'moving' Holy Mary down in Cork back in the day.

1:43-50: The girls can see Holy Mary's head moving!! Lmao!

6:38-44: The local councillor points to a tiny stream near a ditch at the side of the road and says, "There was a person who fell in there last night, and if there wasn't someone with him, they could have been drowned there." Lmao. :pac:

    7:09-32: What a legend. :pac:

    Brilliant. :D

I stand corrected then, thanks for explaining :)

Still though, I get the impression that despite evidence to the contrary, the churches want only to have any supernatural events attributable to them as valid, and any ones not attiributable to them as invalid, and thus "work of Satan". It's stupid really, because in many cases, I've come to find that the "supernatural" to the average person ends up being something totally natural, albeit beyond their understanding.

    Bah!

"Camera shake does not a moving statue make"

I have just coined the above phrase. Please feel free to use it.
