    hi,

Heading to an event at the O2 in a week's time, staying at a hotel on the Luas line.
Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for somewhere nice to go beforehand for a nice early bird menu?

Dont want to go too far out of the way so within 10 minutes of O' Connell street ideally.

Open to all sorts of cuisine, from Japanese to Italian to Irish etc. etc.

    cheers

Please don't go here. I used to work right near it and it was a running joke. I've eaten there a few times and never again. Food is a bit hit and miss but we once spent 2 hours with a waitress who insisted on showing us her "Hobbit dance" every few minutes and singing to us.

Just not worth the hassle unless someone can tell me that things have changed since I was last there.

If you're looking for something different, try dinner on a boat :D

Pre-theatre dinner with two courses for €20 and three for €25.

Small bit out of the way, but Louie's in Mountjoy Square is lovely.

101 Talbot is really nice on Talbot Street which is on the O2 side of O Connell St http://www.101talbot.ie/

Got to agree on 101 talbot actually. Very nice indeed. Just missed a deal on citydeal.ie though. Dont think it opens on sundays either

Yamamori's (either one)... You mentioned Japanese after all.

That's what I'm still trying to figure out :( She kept doing it. At that stage because of her dancing and the slow service we were running late for the cinema and told her but she kept doing it. Right in the middle of the restaurant. She kept singing at our table too. It was a very strange experience.

I used to work on D'Olier St. and this place was a running joke in the office.

Lots of people on here talk up Koh, an Asian place that's next to Jervis Street stop on the Luas

Thanks everyone - I'd almost forgotten Yamamori sushi, that could be a plan for sure :)

    Will look up Koh also.

As for the hobbit dancing? Well......can't say I'm not tempted to go for a look :p

It was quite captivating for the first ten minutes but two hours in and still waiting for main courses, it wore a little thin. I'm almost half tempted to head back myself to see if she's still there.

Another vote for Talbot 101. The interior isn't the most inviting, but the food has always been consistently good every time I have gone there.

Le Bon Crubeen is another place on Talbot Street that might be worth checking out, ate there once - but I was half drunk. Comes recommended on menupages.

What about the green room right next to the O2? I find it very pleasant :)

    The DDDA have a list of restaurants in the Docklands at the following link;

Dublin 1 addresses are obviously closer to the O2 but Dublin 2 ones are accessible via bridges.
