Ask yourself the question; what type of surfing do you want to do? Longboarding itself is different to but wiggling, short boarding. Can you stand comfortably on the board, trim it a bit?

If you have had lessons, maybe have a chat with the instructors. See if you can try out a mates board. It is a big enough commitment to go buy your first board, and it is worth thinking about where you want to go in surfing.

As to the last question, longboard generally refers to any board over 9 ft, NSP is a brand and make boards of all lengths. Worth reading through some ofthe threads on here over the past month or so to get a flavour of others who are looking to get boards etc.
