Why are 3 letter words banned from search

    Its really annoying not being able to search for 3 letter words :mad:

    Stuff like

    AIB / BOI
    BMW and all it's associated models 320, 520 etc
    colleges: UCD, DIT etc

    And so many other examples, but these are all ones I've looked for recently.
    Please allow 3 word searches!

    it's a server load issue if i'm not mistaken, because of the vast occurrences of "and", "the", "car" etc, and instances of "and in other words such as "stand" the results returned would be too high and would be fairly taxing on the gerbils.

    Mostly for the reason Adam mentions.

    When we can handle two or three letter searches, you'll be able to make them.

    *bmw* works on boards as well.

    I find it easier to google whatever i'm looking for and ad boards.ie at the end, always worked better for me tbh.

    This can often be limiting alright - I remember having difficulty searching for 'convert avi to dvd' and the search went through as 'convert'. A google search (site:boards.ie at the start of the search) solved the problem though.

    You should just keep an eye on the Spammer Alert thread for that, or just lurk Anime & Manga at night... >_>
