Following on fron the other Thread,

I'm just seeng would there be any interest is settng up a club that they have in a couple of different fourms on boards that basically goes to the cinema maybe once a month and then for a pint/coke/coffee after it and have a chat about the film or whatever.

It'd be nothing snobby as some film lovers can be and anyone can come along we wouldn't have take any money outside of paying in.

Just an idea in any event. Winter is coming in and Spurs will surely be out of the champions league soon :)

    Count me in!

That's a brilliant idea, especially considering how many people come on here looking for something to do that doesn't necessary involve just drinking. I know most cinemas will do you a group discount if you can guarantee the numbers. That would probably be the tricky part!

This sounds like a brilliant idea ziedth! I love films and going to the cinema but sometimes it can be hard to persuade others to go aswell, I'm excited already :o

Hmmm...for the most part I think all of you people are freaks...but I might be interested in something like this...

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,565 ✭✭✭losthorizon

Hmm I could be interested but for me transport to Waterford is tricky. Dungarvan Person. I'm mad about movies unless they are total crap.

Well that is a good start anyway,

I'll go into storm down the line when we have an idea of numbers. Even if they could charge us student rate or something it'd be worth a go.

By my count cinemas tend to change their full films about every 3 weeks so if we could aim for around that to go and I guess try and reach some kind of vote when it comes to picking a film. Only good thing is given the demographic that uses boards I couldn't see there being any major arguments.

Sure I may as well add another form of socialising to my list of things I can never do because of work :p.

A good idea could be setting up some sort of poll so people could decide on potential dates/films like with the boards beers?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

Ya, it's a pity you can't edit polls once and start new ones (at least I don't think you can) cause we'd have to start opening up new threads all over the shop.

We'll work around it anyway, if we have to open up a new one every month so be it.

Like I said in the other thread I think this is a great idea and am definitely up for it. A new thread for each film wouldn't be the worst thing in the world I suppose.

When we have a solid idea of numbers we could get onto Storm alright about it being a regular thing. I fear that we won't be setting the world alight in terms of bodies if the Beers are anything to go by but hopefully more people would be interested in this. A friend of mine is assistant manager or something down there so I could have a word with him about it.

Film, then across the car park to Grimes. Sure you do be sorted.

Ya I was thinking the same thing, 7.30ish showing out at 9.30ish be home and all for 11 at the latest. Be easily doable for anyone working the next day.

I wouldn't go near storm unless we had 10 going fairly regularly but over time I think we could get that.

I mean most film people like the cinema but can find it tough finding people to go.

Anyone want to venture an idea for a start date? I'm getting married the 22nd so won't be around for a couple of weeks after that.

Yeah I'm getting married November 4th and won't be around until the 21st but that's not to stop anyone kicking off before that obviously.

Count me in. We could also go to Garter Lane for a few more arty films from time to time.

I once was in a cinema in another country. It was a bit more arty farty, but it had a small bar/coffee area (enough for about 30 people) and about 3 screens. I wonder if such a place could be viable in Waterford? It wouldn't have to be arty farty, but just have a wine/beer licence.

Could always sneak booze into the cinema!

Lads (and Lassies) if we want to go to the odd arty film I suggest we all join the Waterford Film for all online (its free). They have a good range of films as well. You have to join as none of their films are censored.

^ good idea but I'm sorry to say I as a rule detest arty films :)

Since we seem to have a geneal interest out there. We'll see can we get a night outside of the next two weeks.

I'm guessing it'll be a Mon-Thurs job, we play footy one varying night a week so outside of next Wednesday the 6th and following Thursday the 14th I should be pretty much free every night.

I'll suggest we pick a night and then film.

Yeah I'd be happy with any Monday-Thursday over the next two weeks so long as it doesn't clash with soccer.

    Ok,

So to stick a date on it. Next Tuesday the 5th?

At a glance there are a couple of films out this week which have been getting decent reviews.

    Cool Dan Arkroyd rocks!

Just been reminded that Thursday doesn't actually suit as I've got the tasting for our wedding menu that night. Still on for another night if we can find one that fits. If not, I'll make the next one. My fiancée said she'd come along too. She mostly lurks around here so maybe she'll only lurk in the cinema too, who knows!
