We are planning a weekend in Killarney in mid-October. We would like to do some walks - I have heard there are nice walks around Muckross and Torc and Molls Gap. How could we find details on these routes - were do they start, how long are they etc. Thanks for your feedback on these or any other suggestions of nice walks in the area :)

If you are not into hill walking, and you enjoy long walks or cycles.

You can walk/cycle from Killarney on of road trails towards Muckross. You can hire bikes in Killarney. There is Walking/cycle loops around Muckross house and lake. It is beautiful in the summer time, Hopefully the leave are still on the trees with that multi brown/yellow/orange colour. Most of the Lake loop of easy gradient. Once you get to the N71 road the trail crosses the road and up on a high trail (100M at highest point) with great views of the Lake. I recommend you stay off the road for safety reasons and take this gravel trail if you are walking. It is narrow (single file) compare the Lake walk where that road path is tarred. If you have a bicycle then stick to the road as the south (of the N71 road) part of the trail is not design for a bike and take care on the road and You can join the Torc Waterfall walk (150M high) at the car park farther down the N71 road.
This Trail can also take you to Torc Waterfall. It is more speculator on a heavy showery day.

On the North section I recommend to stay on the tar road (south of Doo lough) the dirt earth trail will be bad at this time of year when it is wet and mucky. It will link back to the tar road and it is just as beautiful.
Runners/good pair of walking shoes will be fine.
