Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dropped my laptop over the weekend and as well as unseating the RAM it totally ripped the CMOS enclosure off the motherboard. Every time I start it up now I have to reset the system clock as the BIOS is not powered. However apart from that it starts fine and does not seem to cause any issues (apart from a few error messages. Will other issues pop up over time though? Basically want to know if its worth fixing? I dont have a soldering iron and even if I did I would not be confident I could fix it as its ripped from the board itself i.e. metal out of plastic.

I could bring it to a PC fixer upper but have heard so many horror stories about those guys it might be easier just to set the date every time.

Soldering might(Isay might!!) be an option otherwise a new motherboard(which is what a pc repair crowd will probably do)..

Tbh honest long term Im not sure what errors you might get.Normally you would just replace the cmos battery and not have to think about the cmos settings for a few years!

Dont even think soldering is an option. There is no metal piece on the motherboard to solder it to. Its hardly worth a new motherboard. I'll clone the drive and keep going for now.

That would probably be the best bet(and cheapest).Best of luck.
