Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Heard the owner ( I think ) on the radio today. When pushed,he put the figure at about 300, which he reckons will be taken by foxes.

Even 300 is a lot to absorb into a farming area. Some hope foxes will get them.

They will make Glacier Minks out of them.

Maybe if the farmers get a grant from Europe they will absorb them.

Mink traps 35euro through the gun club or 50euro through most outdoor shops, a good way to exercise and take the dogs for a walk too, down side is you have to chain them to a tree, thieving tools will steal them...

I'm no fan of fur farming, but whoever released thos mink cannot call themselves and animal lover, not with the amount of non-native animals they've released into the wilds.

This is where the '****ing dumb' button suggested as an anti thanks in the suggestions thread would come in handy.

"These people are animal liberation terrorists and had no thought for the mink or for the damage that will be done to other wildlife in the area," Anderson said.

They may well do a lot of damage to wildlife but it's incredibly hypocritical for someone from a mink farm to pretend they actually care about animals. It's especially hypocritical to pretend to be concerned about the mink themselves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,606 ✭✭✭Jumpy

One of the farm's directors, Connie Anderson, blamed animal rights activists for invading the farm in the early hours of Sunday. He declined to explain why it took the farm so long to raise the public alarm.

How can you raise the alarm ... Mrs Anderson ... when you cannot ... speak?

I'm glad they escaped but if they cause damage to the environment, that I would not be pleased to see.

They are originally a creature from Russia aren't they?

It's not a case of if, it's a case of "They will".

If this was animal rights activists it largely proves my theory that animal rights activists can be complete ****ing morons.

A Mink kills not only for food but out of territorial instinct, some say for fun also but i've not seen any of this, so it certainly is not "Good`'

Minks and weasels will drink the blood and leave the bodies.

I didnt know foxes would do that though.

Dont know, if eurpoe give a hand out maybe:D
Buy a few traps and keep a few fish frames for them, cages are the main outlay.

Weasels or Mink perhaps? Did someone who really knows identify what killed them?

yes - they came out to see a fox running off

If that many escaped, I doubt they'll make it through winter.

The adults will have no hunting skills and the shortage of food will multiply the effects.

No need to worry in my opinion.

    Let the chaos unfold.

    More than likely confusion :D

Modern harvesting methods involved in tofu production result in huge numbers of the animals that live in Soy fields being killed by the harvesters.

Also all tofu has trace elements of animal blood in it.

    Makes you chuckle really.

Why blame the tree huggers? Blame the people who gave them their driving licences, everyone knows a mink cant reach the pedals.

Mink are an alien species, so there is no licence needed, just shoot/trap and kill. This is ecological vandalism in the name of "animal rights", I would love to see whoever did this identified and punished. Fucking idiots.

That would explain why they're dying on the roads then, You'd think aliens if they've made it all the way to planet earth from whereever they're from would have some basic car control skills though.

Awh what a lovely future they have: (from wiki: Many released minks, however, tend to die of exposure or from fighting one another)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,473 ✭✭✭R0ot

Sigh not the first time this has happened. Way to go activists release a killer animal which will fcuk with the rest of the local animal population for years to come and some will no recover (salmon)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,370 ✭✭✭✭Son Of A Vidic

Those animal farms are barbaric and should not be tolerated, but whoever released them are short sighted muppets. These mink will do untold damage to the local animal population, so well done - saps!
