I currently have a 17 month old boy boxer and he is fully trained and excellent with people and other dogs!! I really want to get a boy staff but want to get a few opinions on how they get on with other dogs especisally boy dogs!!! they would be with each other every minute of the day and would stay inside at night!! and get good long walks together every evening!!! I have talked to a few people who have staffs and they said it depends on how you bring them up but i have trained all the dogs i have ever owned and they have never stepped out of line once!!!!
Please leave feedback as i really want to know my options!!!! Thank You

It might depend on if they will both be intact or neutered. Two intact males of any breed may get feisty with each other.

Of course being well trained will help if you are there but disputes could arise when your back is turned over high value items like bones etc.

(I'm saying all this about two males in general - not just staffs or boxers etc)

We went for a female Staff and she is brilliant around other dogs. Mental but brilliant.

All my family dogs when I was growing up were bitches too so I don't have too much first hand experience with the boys though.

now i dont have a staff or a boxer but i have a two year old schnuazer thats neutered we got a second dog recently and when talking to the vet about getting it she recommended going for a female as there will be much less territorial issues!

I agree with the poster above me, a female would be far better, they will actually get along VERY well if it is a female! Both breeds of dog are great pets and are exceptionally friendly so if they are different genders I can see them getting on fantastic! :)

Great to see you are a responsible owner getting your dog neutered! :)

when i was growing up we had a male staff not neutered. he was brilliant never had any issues with him being agressive or anything. but i will say the other dog we had was a female multesse. he never stepped out of line.

Id definately go for a male/female pair. They will get on great together. The only way I'd have 2 same sex dogs would be if I was getting a third for some reason and I'd try to have as big an age gap as possible between the 2 that were the same sex, even then I think i'd rather have 2 girls than 2 boys.

A staffy and a boxer would get on great together! Staffies are fantastic dogs and great companions. We have one so I would whole-heartedly recommend them! I would look for a female staffy seen that you have a male boxer.

Whilst two males may get on fine, a male and a female are much more likely to with both neutered/spayed. You don't really want to end up in a situation where you get a male staffy and all is well for a while with your boxer and then they start getting competitive. This may not happen with two neutered males but it is far less likely to happen with a male and a female.

Staffies are generally great with people and other dogs once well socialised from a young age as is the case with any breed of dog. They are rough players but I'm sure your boxer will be well up for it! Ours is very competitive with toys, balls etc. so if your boxer is too, just be wary of it.

Like boxers, they are great with children and make excellent family pets. Best of luck and please consider a rescue - you can take your boxer along to meet them to make sure that they will get on and you will be saving a life :)

I'd go for a female staffie and I think you'll fine that most rescues will advise the same.

I'd definitely get a female staffy in that situation. They'll be much happier together. There's more of a chance of two males having issues later on down the road.
As said above, definitely consider a rescue, you could see how well your boxer gets along with the dog before ever getting it home.

I agree with the above totally! I have a male female pair and while she does have to lay down the law with him sometimes they do get on great and are best friends! They are both neutered! I have a male foster dog with me at the moment and he was recently neutered so the testosterone has not quite left his body yet (can take upto 9 months!) and he is not as tolerant of my male dog as he is of the female! He does not like my male dog getting in his space and can be at times a bit pushy with him! My fella is so so tolerant of him and lets him away with alot but would defo advise a male femal pair when bringing in a second dog.

i had a female staff up to a few months ago.and never had
any trouble wit other dogs. its all about how you bring them up. but would def reccommend a female with another dog
