I got a txt yesterday from a buddy of mine saying"Great weather for a shot".
That was all I needed so I rang him up and said get your Sh!t together and I`ll pick you up in half an hour..
So I packed my 300 wm and r-15 223 in the jeep, collected Old mate and his cz 223 and off we went.
The weather was perfect for a bit of long range gong ringing....

Well mate your on the bull again. Your 300 is shooting very well and so are you. Did you use Exbal on your Pocket PC to dial in the data as before?

I can't Get this bloody iPhone to play that video so I'll have to wait till later to see it.
I knew you were going to ring that gong.
Did it take you long to dial it in or did that hand held computer get it right first time.

    Wel done

The first few shots I was bang on for elevation but the windage was out by about 10 feet....(I forgot the rezero the windage from the last time I shot it:o)
Once I sorted that out it was just a few clicks out for elevation but have that sorted now with a few data adjustments..

    I'd say that's about 350-400 yards max.

    Only kidding, good shooting that!

Well, it isn't 820 yards either - I calculated the distance using eyeballs observation [OI = observed impact] and ears [TTC = time to clang], and assuming that it was around 18C.

    I made it 831.17 yards.

    Great shooting, gentlemen. :=)

It gets a tub every 40 rounds with a mix of 50/50, kroil and shooters choice to clean out the carbon(a lot of powder goes through it)
Every 80 it gets the same then a good soak of hoppes #9 to get out the copper...which is very little now days as its well and truly broken in..

The poor green machine has been well neglected....
The nightforce that was on it went on the 300 and I`ve only just got around to getting a new one for it..

Just in time too the nights are getting longer and the lamp will be out!

I must get a steel gong made up soon, and start trying to do some long distance stuff...
