book on all religion

Can anyone recommend a good book which covers the basic teachings of all major religions.
I'm trying to understand more the individual belief systems of each religion and suppose I am looking for a "dummies guide" to the major religions.

Sorry to post this in the "Christianity" section when my query is regarding all religions, I didn't see a "neutral" religious section.

It's a decent enough read but must admit I much preferred The Bible for Dummies as a read.

You could also consider The Complete Idiot's Guide to World Religions (by Brandon Toropov). John Bowker's book World Religions is well-illustrated and provides a good introduction.

If you prefer an appoach from an Irish perspective then you could do a lot worse than Sean Moncrieff's "God: A User's Guide"

The wikipedia articles are all pretty good. The main pages for any of the religions will give you a brief overview but if you then follow the links on them it goes into much more detail on various elements of the religions. You could spend a couple of hours getting a "for dummies" uptake or weeks and weeks going into finer detail if you want.

(and before someone tries to take a pop at wikipedia's accuracy the articles are all littered with citations and sources from places like the BBC, Encyclopedia Brittanica, Vatican.va, the Qu'ran, dozens of bestselling books on religion etc etc etc)
