Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the material needed for the CFR course/exam, I'll be doing the course soon enough and would like to read up on it first if possible?

its easy enough though you'll have plenty of time to abosrb the information on the day.
Btw, are you doing the course this sunday by any chance with the order of malta?

    Hi Ziycon

2 things you can do before the day of the course

    (1) You can download the CFR Manual Version 2 here
    http://www.phecit.ie/Documents/Publications%20&%20Media/CFR%20Training%20Suite/CFR%20Manual%20Ed2%20Web%20Ready%20FINAL.pdf
(as pointed out by Delta Bravo)

    (2) Ring the CFR instructor who is running the course and arrange to get the manual before the day the course is on.

You will be examined then at the end of the course with 20 MCQs (multiple choice questions) theory and then practical skill assessments.

The 20 MCQs is based on what is in the manual so it is good idea to read the manual before attending the class. On the day the instructor will do showing you a DVD and doing a lot of practical work so he/she may not get to cover 100% what is in the manual due to time. But to be honest with ya the instructor should have covered/mentioned everything with you that will appear in the MCQs.

It will be a good idea to look at the skill assessment sheets also. This is what the instructor will be marking you on during your practical exam at the end of the day.
    http://www.phecit.ie/Documents/Education%20&%20Training/Examinations/Responder%20Level%20Examination/Cardiac%20First%20Responder/CFR%20Responder%20Assessment%20sheets%20V2_May%2009.pdf

It is not a hard course and if you have an interest in the topic you should be fine. Best of luck on the day. It is a good course to do before doing the OFA.

I have to agree with the other posters I done mine with the CD, everything is covered in the course and it is not too difficult pass, once you pay attention to the material. Best of luck with it, keep us informed as to how you get on.

    The above is the truth.
