Hi there, I would like to create something that will allow me to copy something to clipboard with just one click. Ideally it would just be a shortcut so when clicked it places the contact onto your clipboard.

It would probably be a batch file i would have thought, does anyone know how i would go about this?

So you can't go right click -> "Copy" ?
    Or ctrl-c ?

Well, i can but i'd like to be able to click on a shortcut depending on what i need and be able to paste straight away, instead of having to browse, open, highlight and copy the data. I know it sounds like i'm just being lazy but its just something that would make one particular task less tedious.

Check your mouse driver / mouse software that came with the mouse.

What you're looking for is a way to redefine the mouse keys.
Especially if you have extra mouse buttons.

Failing that, look for some software to allow you to redefine the mouse buttons, preferably to a keystore. Eg. mapping right click to Ctrl-C.

Although I'd leave the mouse right click button alone, too many programs use it.
Maybe set a keystore/macro for "Ctrl" + right mouse click.

Probably not doable in a standard batch file but I'd be surprised if it couldn't be done in a PowerShell script. I have no experience with the PowerShell but I can't imagine it's ay more complex than Linux shell scripting.

/I may have spoken to soon. You can pipe command line output to this and it'll stick it in the clipboard. This does rely on you having a way to cat your output as you want it copied which may or may not be possible in cmd.exe.
