The Ryder Cup has become the Radar Cup this morning with torrential rain putting a stop to play at 09:45. Fairways and greeens are flooded, and there's no way they can continue play like that.

Celtic Manor is kind of mid-way between Cardiff and Bristol Airports, but nearer to Bristol (16 miles away vs Cardiff at 23 miles). It lies in the River Usk valley, with 1,300ft hills to its northwest. The course itself goes from sea level (at the river basin) to around 350ft amsl, so a very hilly course.

With a southerly wind there this morning, Bristol Airport to its southeast is a good indicator of what's on the horizon for them (even though the horizon is shrouded in cloud!)

This morning's TAF gives heavy rain between 7am and 3pm, with 2.5kms visibility, and broken cloud at 300ft agl (that's around 600ft at the golf course). Chance of 300m visibility in fog this afternoon, followed by clear conditions. A real headache.

Latest TAFs are not looking good for the next few hours, moderate rain until 4pm. The UKMET radar has the area as "Heavy", but there is a nice clearance behind it. But too little too late methinks.

Not looking good on the radar there this morning - lots of pinks!

There were two ammendments issued since the 05Z Bristol TAF, but currently they have moderate rain clearing before midday but now they have some strong southerly winds of 22 gusting to 34 knots.

They certainly had a nice day on Monday to end off the event, congrats to Europe on their hard-fought win. It didn't look cold but Hunter Mahan looked frozen at the end.
