With the advent of Google Street View you can now get a panoramic view of your property. I think estates are only covered in the cities.
Excellent feature, gives you an idea of the property, and its surroundings.

Yep, that was my first thought with Street View available. Makes it much easier to get an idea of the area too and deciding if a place is worth viewing or not in the first place.

It'll be when we get the much-vaunted official property price actual-sale database mashed up with StreetView that we'll be really cookin' with gas.

Just zoomed to within 5 steps of my front door, and I'm in a small, off-main road cul de sac. Astonishing technology.

You really expect estate agents to select exactly where a property is on a map? They're far too highly trained to do that type of work....

They do tend to take a photo of the exterior of the property though and with some detective work it should be fairly easy to work out the property in question ;)

    Loving the street view!

Bing maps 'birds eye' view, is also useful as you can get a look at the back of the house. Pity we couldnt get all the maps combined into one.

one thing i've noticed from this new google viewing mechanism is that a lot of the photos seem to be 2009. One place I know of is completely different to what is shown for 2009 which could affect peoples perception of the area.
The place I'm referring to is in a development.
    But great job overall.

Google "satellite" view does the same mode (if available)
You can see all on maps.google.com (sat, street view and map view)

The bonus with this is time.

No more time wasted going out to see a place and realize then that the neighbours are in on top of ya or there a slatted shed next door..

So long dodgy estate agent photographs:rolleyes:
