How do I unsubscribe from gold membership?

I sold my xbox 360 a couple of months ago, and now only realise Xbox live have been charging me monthly for a gold membership when I haven't even been using the account. How do I unsubscribe from this membership quickly?

Really, I didn't know it was U.S only.
