Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Who was a tougher cookie in their playing career: Graeme Souness or Roy Keane?

Both strike me as hard bastards :D

I reckon Roy Keane would be the toughest, but my cousin who saw Souness more for Liverpool reckons Souness would be tougher. I don't think so.

Souness would have broken Keane, and I don't say that meaning to demean Keane's abilities in the slightest as I regard Keane as having been on of the best midfielders of his generation.

Souness was just on another level.

These types of threads always go well :D

You could get away with alot more when Souness played in the 70's and 80's.

Both men were tough as nails.

Who was the better player is easier to answer, Souness of course ;)

    Keane was the better player.

Toughness wise there is no separating them.

Don't listen to this Cork Man, I enjoy these threads as long as there is not a huge number of them at any one time.

So you want to see another Liverpool vs Man Utd clusterfúck thread? Because it's pretty damn obvious that's what this will turn into.

I can count one possible troll already.:pac:

I'd love to have seen Keane playing in the 70s.:D

Souness was dirtier in your average game.
Keane was nastier in some one off situations.
Toughness wise - about the same.
In my opinion Keane ws the better player overall.

What't the average age of posters on this forum?? I reckon it would somewhere between the mid and late 20's. Most here aren't equiped to properly answer than question as we have barely watched Souness play.

You have to bear in mind the differing cultures of football in the 70's and that in the 90's/00's. Souness was let away with far more, as was everyone back in the day, compared to what Keane would have been allowed get away with in the modern era. Souness et al naturally look like "harder men," but really its impossible to tell who actually was.
