Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi there, what dept/thickness should I do my concrete floor in my back garden garage?

Garage is a basic block garage and is only for the purpose of storing gardening and diy tools and other general household stuff.

The garage floor will have steel sheet/rebar in it for some extra strength, just incase a car or something heavy is put in the garage.

1 person said to me that 4 inches of concrete was ok,and some one else said to me 6 inches of concrete for the floor area

    So whats best??

    Thanks.:)

My driveway is 4" un-reinforced concrete, still no cracking after 15 years.

    120 - 150 mm i would have thought.

a shed will have a slightly different loading than the driveway. but if you have the mesh handy throw that in too. as you never know what you might want to do with the garage in the fiture.

I'd agree 100% with Matron. Also remember to whack the base - 150-225 layer of crushed stone hardcore. A good base is very important as it supports the slab.

Well worth hiring a whacker to whack stone and sand under damp-proof-membrane (sheet of 1000guage plastic). PM for details or checkout Homebond manual.

This drawing detail isn't perfect but its should be fine of a garage, scroll to bottom of page:- http://www.diydoctor.org.uk/projects/constructiongroundfloor.htm
