    hi
    what are the average costs o counselling and/or psychotherapy
    are the low cost services any good thanks

    No idea what the average costs are. It's free in the HSE Mental Health/Psychology Services. It would vary in the private sector according to qualifications, experience or indeed being a chancer. Have you phoned around?

    Have a look at the 'Finding a Counsellor/Therapist' sticky thread above. Lots of questions for you to ask as there is no regulation of counsellors/therapists.

    In places that offer low price counselling you are often dealing with a student in their final year. As they would be under close supervision I would not let that put you off so fees at a guess would range from somthing like 20e for the above to about 80e a session with someone in private practice.

    I usually think of €65 as being the average for a psychotherapist in private practice. More if they are a psychologist.
