Anyone else having problems sending emails from a gmail account via POP3/SMTP?

Everything seems to have stopped in the last few days - can receive but not send!

More details please. What outbound settings are you using and what kind of broadband have you?

It seems that Vodafone have blocked SMTP access if you are not using their mail serveer according to reports over on the Talk To Vodafone forum here on Boards.

As far as I know Vodafone only block port 25 though. With Gmail (and many other ISP's) there are alternative outbound ports (e.g. 465 & 587) that can probably be used instead of having to go through mail.vodafone.ie.

It's all down to the outbound settings that you use for your particular e-mail service.

I'll take a look at the Talk to vodafone page - I'm using the standard POP3 settings for Gmail - they havent been changed in over a year and suddenly stopped working so this sounds like the cause

I am having problems too..

vodafone is my ISP
Outlook is my mail client, but i have tested on outlook express also and it is not working...

i am calling them today, now in fact, and if they do not unblock gmail smtp settings they are sacked...

Just spoke with Vodafone and they have advised it is not them, but they are aware their customers are experiencing issues with GMAIL SMTP since last friday ...

if i get a fix i will pass it on, contacting Google now, although this may take longer then previous

You could try using mail.vodafone.ie as your SMTP server until the Gmail problem gets resolved?

sorted, i think if you change TLS to SSL in advanced settings it works... anyway, see automated reply from google... they sent me a pop troubleshooter which helped me iron out some issues i created when i was troubleshooting... now all is working again
