how points are worked out

    hi i am considering doing engineering in ucd but i need to know one of the requirements for matriculation is that you have a d3 in ord irish but when they work out your points can you sub in a better grade in another subject like a c3 in history or does irish have to be one of your 6 points subjects?

    No, your matriculation requirements do not need to be in your best 6.

    The CAO assigns places like this, in this order.

    1. Does the candidate have the matriculation requirements?
    2. Does the candidate have the course requirements?
    3. Does the candidate have the necessary points?

    If it's a NO to any of those questions, a place is not assigned and it does not move onto the next step.
