can i get rent allowance?

    im 18 and i am not recieving jobseekers allowance yet.I have applied but still waiting. Im pregnant and due in december and my mother and father have throen me out of mu house. i am kiving with my uncle now but i will have to go soon as there is no room for me there. I have never rented a house before. Will they give me rent supplement if i applied as i am need for housing and there is a house i can move in to however the rent is 400euro a month and i cant afford that much. will they give me rent allowance straight away due to my circumstances

    While you are waiting, contact your local CWO (community welfare officer) have a chat with him and get supplementary welfare allowance to supplemnent you while you are waiting on a decision. He will also advise you on where to apply to be put on to the housing list (you need to be on the housing list in order to apply for rent allowance). Do it now as it may take a few weeks/months for them to look at your application for local authority housing. Other than this your CWO is your best point of contact.

    persevere, it can be daunting. the CWO may be able to help you to secure a deposit for a flat/apartment.
