    hi all. quick question.

at midnight, every night, something in the fusebox "kicks in" and starts making a very loud buzzing noise. keeps me awake something terrible.

in the photo, where the DAY and NIGHT switch thingy are marked.

the DAY one has settings the NIGHT on has settings

    -4 -2
    -2 -4
    ► ►
    +2 +2
    +4 +4
    constant

(switch set to constant) (set to -2)

would anyone know what this is? what kicks in at 12am? is it costing more money than it should? is it safe to change the settings so i can get a good nights kip?

    any help welcome

its the relay/contactor pulling in for the night storage heating cheap rate
if its driving you mad you could get it replaced
    they do tend to buzz/humm
its most likely the unit to the left with the 3 blue stripes

you set the 'day' dial to midrange

and adjust the 'night' dial for comfort-give it 24hrs for settings to take effect

i'd say you'll need a sparkie to swop out the contactor-for a quieter one

prob switch off the control circuit mcb-if you want to turn off contactor/heating entirely

The buzzing noise is coming from the contactor
(the plain looking device to the left of the device you have highlighted)

Best thing to do is have it changed with a low noise contactor, Hager do one.
