I'm not sure what kind of people I like, argumentative people and honest people, love a good debate.

But i'm certain I don't like you, and that's only after two posts, I don't know why.
Yeah I agree. Hes the kind of person I try and avoid at all costs.

Interesting people who are reasonably well travelled and fairly open minded, generally.

    I'm allergic to parochialism. :)

straight-up people, people who over-think, people who dont take life to seriously, liberal folk, odd people (as I myself am odd).

Basically people like me - those who flounder about in life, never achieving much.

I find it interesting though how sometimes people with whom you have loads in common aren't easy to get on with at all, and people whom you have nothing in common with can become great friends.

Indeed, my best friend and I are pretty much opposites.

People I like... people who aren't into drama, are not two faced, are honest and forthright, are genuinely nice and kind. People who are happy enough in themselves, I think. People who are open minded.

What about if being honest isn't being nice and kind? Rather blunt and hurtful?

You can be a nice and kind person while still being honest. I don't think there's any difficulty in both at once.

It's because he likes to think of himself in pre-determined social constructs, because without words like "jock" to relate to, he can't ascertain a position for himself, while also being incredibly keen to assert his "alternative" nature, with "quirky" tendencies. Drives me nuts too.

Basically, I like people who don't feel the need to do the above, who know enough about the world to understand the fluid nature of their position within it and their role, who are personally strong and confident, understand the relative importances of laughing like an idiot and kicking back and of working like a dog and pushing through barriers and limitations as the situation demands it. I like intelligent, well-read and well-informed people. Basically, I like humble, intelligent and self-aware people, who understand their position in the world, appreciate it and can laugh as a result.

Yes yes yes that is why i disliked him first, upon his 3rd post though, it put more reasons into my head.

    Thank you so much.

Self deprecating as mentioned earlier, a mind of their own, a good laugh and sarcastic, basically down to earth.

    Small ones, with vivid imaginations.
Honesty is overrated; I prefer someone who understands the art of tactful deception.

People who can make me laugh. Honesty is a must too.
Two things that completely put me off a person; Over confidence and stinginess.
Particularily hate stingey people, and I don't mean people who are careful with their money, I mean peel an orange in their pocket, wouldn't spend Christmas misers!!

I like ppl who can be serious and silly, when the situations requires it.
Integrity is the most important quality. And a filthy sense of humour, and the abilty to discuss 'adult/filth' topics without having to resort to crude language or bushing.

I like honesty and respectfulness. I like people who can have a debate or discussion with being pompus or condescending or resorting to I'm-right-and-you're-wrong tactics. I like people who can serious when needed but also light-hearted and silly too. I like people who are humble when they make a mistake and gracious when they have won something.

i am loner who prefers his own company. pubs clubs and cinema i attend by myself. can only work up the courage to talk after a few beers. then i regret opening my mouth the next day. i even have a facebook account with people i knew from my past added as pals but i never chat to them. nothing in common. i feel as if i have few things in common with other people, not into any sport. my tastes in movies books and music is quite esoteric. i feel uncomfortable in crowds i feel on edge or very sad and lonely. when i go for a drive on a saturday afternoon just by myself i feel ever so free. people hate me anyway.

When I was younger I used to think that some traits were essential; passion for music, sense of humour, intelligence, open-mindedness.

Now although I still appreciate these things, as I've gotten older I've realised that the most important thing is that people are NICE. I really cannot stand meanness and I have no time for people who promote it or tolerate it. I often see 'comedians' who spend their whole time on stage bullying people in the audience to try and get a cheap laugh at their expense. It's not nice and it's not funny!

Also, I do love when people say utterly filthy and shocking things when you least expect it :)
