great news. Biggest venue they've played in Dublin i think?

shows in the academy were awesome.

Yes, its their biggest show in Dublin, they last played the olympia way back in 2003, wasnt at that one,the academy was amazing last year. Only Irish gig I didnt like by them was in the village, thankfully no decent bands play them aanymore, will hope to be at this one, with 3 shows, it should take a bit of pressure of the Dublin gig.
New album in February as well

Dublin gig. cracking . sound was brill, mood was perfect and the crowd were great. setlist was perfect.

big fan of the new album and they played a lot of it.. the tracks i like too.

Letters to the metro, white noise & mexican grand prix (and the thatcher song i think)

hunted by a freak, friend of the night were there too... (did they play killing all the flies?)

batcat too.. correct me if i'm wrong.

what was that song in the middle where it gets unbelievably quiet and mellow for ages and then 'whack!' all 3 guitars & bass kicked in with a wall of white light?? highlight of the whole set.. awesome.

    anybody have the full setlist?

lighting/visuals were the best i've seen from then too.

on a side note has Stuart Brathwaite shed about 2 stone ?

Might be New Paths To Helicon?

Pretty sure that was Like Herod,
Not a good song to go to sleep to anyway!
Would of been nice to get a few more songs off Mr Beast but still a great set

Good gig last night, but why people feel it appropriate to chat through the 'quite bits' is beyond me. Still went to bed with a comforting ringing in my ears though

Exactly- though thought it was quite funny that people were "shushing" just before it became a total white noise rock-out. Saw a few people jump in shock!

Great gig though, thought the new album sounded fantastic with a few wee diversions from their normal sound.

I'm getting sick of people chatting at gigs. If you want to chat, go to the bar or stay at home. It kinda spoiled the quiet parts. Was funny seeing poeple jump in shock when they blasted us out of it.

Good gig overall. Not a fan of Mexican Grand Prix at all, so I would have preferred a different last song.

You could tolerate people commenting on the band/gig etc. but the banal sh1t you hear at gigs these days, it grates.
Somebody posted a link of Badly Drawn Boy threatening to walk off stage if the jabbering during his set didn't stop on another thread here a few weeks back. Now he did come off looking a bit of a numpty (which, incidentally he probably is) but it is hugely frustrating when you pay to see somebody up there doing their thing and you feel like you're in some kind of facebook departures lounge.....
'OMG you were sooooooo drunk. HAHAHAHAHAH LOL!!!11!!'
**** off, they're playing Like Herod ya spa.

That was Mogwai Fear Satan. Best song of the night imo.

Thought the olympia gig was good, but not great. Maybe a few too many songs from the new album, and finishing on a new song too wasn't great imo.

Having said that, despite being underwhelmed by the album version of White Noise it blew me away live. Rano Pano was excellent too. Raging now though cos I've just seen that they played Christmas Steps at the galway gig

really enjoyed the galway gig- heres my review of it: http://www.state.ie/live-reviews/26143-mogwai-the-radisson-live-lounge-galway

have to agree with with the general consenus that MGP is a poor choice of last song, apart from that they were fantasic live
