    Hey,

Im a 6th year and doing the research topic for History. Looking over my essay It seems to be all from one source, which is my specialist secondary source, an academic historians book (quite a lot of my essay has been taken almost directly from the book). Is this likely to loose me marks?

One more thing about the topic, am I ment to be stating a source for EVERYTHING I say or is it okay to sate some facts without proving them?

    cheers

Try and vary your sources. Remember the whole Explore, Enquiry, Evidence. You have to pitch sources against each other and find your results. An extra few words "According to [Name of Book], [publisher] [year]" is no harm but dont piss off the examiner by becoming a robot citing sources for everything.

Don't be afraid to criticise your sources. Your sources are what you have to work on and don't be afraid to call bias or partly lies on a source, but you are expected to use reliable sources. Also, lean far heavier on a primary source rather than a secondary source.
