Try here if you're in Dublin, he specialises in marines but he has freshwater also.

ETA: Just noticed you're in Cork!! This place is still worth a look though!

I'd nearly go so far as to say it might be worth a trip up from Cork to have a look in there, they always seem to have nice clean tanks and well kept fish, and they seem to know their stuff!

id love a spin to seahorse aquariums.. but how would i transport the fish home surely a 3 hour spin in a plastic bag wouldnt be healthy

I'm not sure, our goldfish did 6 hours, but we did tell them we had a bit of a trip ahead, so they got a giant bag and a plant.

I'm not sure about tropicals though.

I've seen people come a long way to buy from him and seen him pump oxygen into the bags for those who have to travel for over an hour. Drop him an email and enquire but I'm sure there's a way.

There's a small place on Maylor street near Smyths that does tropical fish, bought some there when I used to run a tank. They do tend to be pricey but may have more uncommon species than other shops.

Other than that Sullys on the coalquay used to have a nice selection, haven't been there in a while. There's also a Pet Store that does lots of fish on north main street, bought a tank there a few years ago but I wouldn't say their tanks would be the cleanest. Im sure there's a few more too, that old thread mentioned is probably mostly still relevant too.

Always got my guys from the pet shop on north main street and never had any problems with them. If you live anywhere near Midleton, the Maxi zoo there has quite a selection as well.

Slightly off topic & a tad bit away from Cork..... I posted a similar thread a while back looking for decent ones in Dublin. I found 2 really good places. Fishes all looked happy n their tanks & the assistants werent condescending ( he always finds hes been breading fish longer than they were alive yet they treat him like a fool ) . The first is PetBliss in Newtownmountkennedy. Father & Daughter owning this place & just lovely. Really nice selection & just overall 10/10 in general for pet supplies. Second is the new Petshop in Carrickmines. Really nice guys working up here.
