My family name seems to have died out in Ireland. (I live in Wales)
But my great grandmother's family name was Hutchinson. That seems to have been common, and probably still is.

I was just curious as to whether I have any known relatives in the Dublin area anymore. (Known to them anyway)

So are there any Hutchinson's out there who have links to the Robinette/Robnett/Robinet (et al) family??

No, I am not trying to get in touch, I am simply curious as to whether there are others who managed to trace the Hutchinson links back further, as there seem to be a lot of them and I am uncertain which thread to follow.

I could be wrong but the chances of someone name Hutchinson who knows that they are related to someone named Robinette and who visits this forum is probably not very large.

    You never know though...

from the marriage of Mathew and Susan, you know that Susan's father was Francis Hutchinson, a cabinet maker, that Susan gave her address as 55 Charlemont St and that a witness was Thomas Hutchinson (presumably a brother).

Possibly the baptism of Francis Hutchinson and where the name Amelia came from :

but here's a baptism for a Francis Hutchinson (plus) at 55 Charlemont

Thomas appears to have married a Florence Henderson of 55 Charlemont St

who appears to be the daughter of Zoro Robinett Henderson.

Charlemont St cropping up in the above and the following Hutchinson marriages :

leading to these 1901 census records :

    and 1911 census records

    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Rathmines___Rathgar_East/Ranelagh_Road/45034/

there is a tree on Ancestry for Francis Hutchinson married to Elizabeth Jane Switzer. 6 children noted.

in the 1939 electoral roll numbers 20 and 21 Ranelagh Road are home to Hutchinson including a Francis.

I'd say there's a good chance that there are still some related Hutchinson's in Dublin.

A Dublin based Francis Hutchinson was one of the founders of what became the Plymouth Brethren.

Johnny Doyle, good grief you come up trumps on every post I make. Another brilliant bit of info. Thank you very much indeed.

Ponster, I agree but as I said it was a matter of curiousity. You never know do you? Especially if someone called Hutchinson sees what Johnny Doyle has posted. I suppose it is a long shot, and I don't really mind that. You never get anywhere if you don't try though.

To both of you, I thank you very much indeed for taking the time to reply to this thread.

I would be interested to know who and when the first Robinettes (or however it is spelled in those times) arrived in Ireland.

Obviously it is a French name rather than an Irish one. I am just not sure where to look for the earliest records.

they came circa 1660 and were among the early Huguenot settlers in co. cork.

they were goldsmiths and trades men. Look up huguenot settlements in Irelad by samuel smiles. then the pdf will availabe for downloaDING. THEY SETTLED WITH GAMAGE, QUARRY AND TERRY FAMILES AMONGST POPULAR HUGUENOT SURNAMES.

    Dave If you consult Lynda,

She has a massive amount of my misc research. It is meant to save you some time perhaps you can piece some of the pieces together. It is by no means all of the records, but certainly a hell of a good start. If I had a week in Dublin and kew archives I could tie up so much.

Can you download a program offline !!??

    Hi there.

My great great great grandmother was called Anne Taylor. Hr family had a long, long history with 55 Charlemont Street.
Her sister Elizabeth Taylor married a man called William Hutchinson and his relations married Robinetts...so I am a very distant relation!

In 1844, Antony Sillery Fruiterer was living at 55 Charlemont Street. There is a complete list of jurors in Dublin City 1844 accessible at - with addresses and occupations:
