Can anyone advise me of a web site that gives good details of the above..........I'm particularly interested in the detail used where a roof ties into an existing gable wall?

Try most roof tile or slate manufacturers for 2d, 3d or isometric drawing details.
Tegral have a good selection of pdf details. I sure they'll have a detail on existing gable.

Have a look in Homebond manual.
