His Royal Highness wants to be a pirate for holloween. Anyone know where I can get one? Or ideas for making one. Thanks.

    To make one you need:

An old white blouse, the frillier the better.

A pair of baggy or outsized trousers, cut off just below the knee.

A pair of knee socks - tuck the ends of the pant legs inside the socks.

A pair of black shoes (if possible but normal footwear will do). Make a silver buckle out of a square frame-shaped piece of cardboard wrapped in tin foil. Attach to the shoe using the lacers or a piece of string - sellotape/blu-tack won't work.

A coloured sash/cummerband for around the waist - this should be at least 5 inches wide and ideally red, but any colour will do. A scarf, offcut of an old sheet, anything really will do. Just tie at the back.

A bandana - again, any piece of material will do for this, but black and red are the best halloween colours. Tie firmly around the head. Any tailing bits just add to the effect. You could add a fake plait of hair (or braided wool) to add to the Jack Sparrow effect.

A waistcoat - if you don't have one, any dark coloured shirt will do, just cut off the collar and arms.

A leather belt to hang across the body (over one shoulder and across the chest) - to act as pistol/sword carrier.

Eye patch - Can be got in Tesco or make your own out of black coloured cardboard and a piece of elastic.

Make-up - channel Johnny Depp - black rings around the eyes, paint on a moustache, add a scar seeing as it's Halloween. All can be got from Tesco.

Sword - cheap as chips in the €2-shops or make your own out of cardboard and tinfoil. Attach a piece of string to it so that it can be tied on to the belt when not in use.

He probably doesn't need a pirate's hat, I don't know how to make one of those.

If you don't have any of the above, go to your nearest, shabbiest charity shop, gather up what you need and offer them no more than €5. Added thrill of probably being dead people's clothes.

The best costumes are always home-made. I LOVE Halloween!

Tescos have pirate costumes at the moment for kids,

I'm guessing he doesn't want to be a pirate of the modern Somalian variety. Shame, that costume is so much easier.

And besides, he should dress up as a Ninja. Everyone knows that Ninja's can beat up the Pirates easily.

OK, on a more serious note...here's some links.

I saw some today in M+S if you want to go the bought route.

James is going to be a spider baby, with the body of a spider but the mind of a baby. Got the supplies in Dunnes yesterday.

He needs a hat. Or a bandana maybe

Edit: People will take him more seriously with a hat

I don't know what tl;dr means, but I'm assuming it's a compliment, so thank you. As for quoting your post in particular, I just seen the words " he probably doesn't need a pirates hat" and got a bit offended. Your post was very constructive and tbh, I've just been looking for an excuse to use that photo for a few days now.

Are you sure about the parrot? I can get you a real African Grey for under €800.

Alternatively, you could buy him one of these to keep the costs down-

    http://cgi.ebay.ie/Taxidermy-stuffed-bird-parrot-t36-love-bird-/250708005043?pt=UK_Collectables_AnimalCollectables_SM&hash=item3a5f5c90b3

Only 30 euros from China, It's no African Grey I know, but it would do the trick, plus it has free shipping.

    Aaaaar
