Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i have an dell inspirion 1501 and as of yesterday i have a crackling/skipping sound from the speakers.

    things i have tried.

. gone into sound and audio devices to reduce the sound level to see if crackling noise is only at certain level. it is crackling at all levels.

. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the the sound card updated drivers, and rebooted the system to see if it made a difference. it didnt.

. i have hooked up external speakers to see if the noise comes through them. it does.

. i have checked sound through earphones and same crackling sound.

i am assuming because the crackling sound happens through normal spaekers, external speakers and earphones that maybe my sound card is going and if so im screwed cause thats attached to the motherboard and may as well buy a new laptop instead.

if anyone has any advice on this or agrees with me that my sound card is going, let me know laptop is 4years old and is running xp pro sp3.

Not a fix for your your problem, but a workaround for headphones or ext speakers, for about 3.30 euro USB soundcard

Sounds like the sound card but it could be a windows problem.

Download a Live CD like Ubuntu or Knoppix and boot it to see if you still have the problem.
