Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cervelo: Where 50% of our owners don't know to put it in the big ring for the vanity shot.

It's much less than that, I know, but 50% sounds better.

if you cycle into a wall there is no way you will be able to see what happens

    Hi All,
    Apologies for the tangent/thread hijacking.
I'm trading up 2 either a Cervelo S3 or Felt AR3... Is the perceived wisdom that the Cervelo is a bit hit and miss?

I'd really value your opinions on both bikes please...

    Cheers
    Mike

I've already had a dealer trying to dissuade me on the Cervelo.. Quality issues about carbon... Bikes manufacturered in Taiwan? I put it down to the fact that he was pushing the Felt at the time.....

    ..forgot 2 add...
    They are incredible looking bikes!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 296 ✭✭Staro

The R3 is a fantastic bike to ride but there is a question mark over the quality. Mine is some where in the Uk with the distributor with a suspected crack around the BB!

    Anybody have similar issues?

I sent my first one back cos of a crack in the chainstay. Still rides awesome. Mind you, so do other carbon bikes that I've cycled.

Rims should be slightly thicker than the thickest section of the frame. It's the law.

    My Scott is ugly....

...but at least it hasn't cracked. Yet.

Also, Cervelos look rubbish in small sizes.

Just measured the down tube on my TCR Advanced frameset, it's wider than the rims on those lovely Easton EC90s I was eyeing up. Damn the law anyways!

Totally waisted on me, but I love them. Quite stiff and they corner well. Not too deep so I can deal with them in the cross winds.

Sure. I've the bog standard TCR Advanced which has a fatter down tube. Different wheels too, those are the Aero, I covet the SLs.

Mmm, dunno, they've gone and used three different colours on the decals. I could probably find a way to justify the price, but could I live with such aesthetic failures?

I generally find Giants a little bit vanilla the one above is niiiice. I don't think they look good in big sizes though.

R3s are common as muck these days.

Agree on both counts. Giants entry level look awful. However I rode a few things during the summer with some Limerick CC lads who all had very very bling Giants.

R3's - Watched a few stages of Ras Mumhan earleier this year. Almost every 3rd bike was Cervelo.

If I was to blow cash on a bike that I couldnt justify then I would go
Kuota KOM, Argon 18 or Colnago (almost anything).

What's the arrangement on the cables over the front brake? Tensioning? More aero?

The new TCR looks very nice in the flesh with the bulky squarish tubing.

Your thighs are slightly too small for your shorts. No muscle definition.

Socks are very tasty however, and its nice the way they match your shoes. Are the Northwave?
