Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Scott Coker said at the Strikeforce Press Conference on Thursday:

“One thing I can tell you is all these guys … Alistair, Fedor, Fabricio, Josh Barnett, ‘Bigfoot’ (Antonio Silva), (Sergei) Kharitonov, Andrei Arlovski, Brett Rogers, all those guys are all going to fight each other in 2011,”

Who else thinks there may be a heavyweight tournament in the works?

I think it would be good marketing on their part to spread a tournament out over 2 or 3 events in 2011. Would make very interesting viewing, with the winner getting a shot at Overeem or have him seeded at #1.

Fedor offered Overeem a fight if he agreed to undergo Olympic style drug testing, hasn't been any progress made since the offer however.

And money. They end up putting 2 matchups together on one payday.

Ah I seriously doubt they will go the K1 - 3 fights deciding a winner in one night route, even dream dropped those in Japan. Led to some ridiculous outcomes over the years.

This being in the US I doubt the commissions would entertain the idea either.

More likely it will go the way of Dreams more recent super hulk tournament, where they had a round of fights per event.

You're accusing Overeem of been on roids while supporting Barnett a guy who failed 3 times.

To play devil's advocate here , when I read his post I assumed he was talking about Barnett (who has a known record of failing tests) regards the " juice " even though the brackets were next to Overeem especially given the back to the UFC bit

I think a tournament like you're suggesting might give Coker what he wants, Fedor to have a shot at the title. Because he lost to Werdum he couldn't just go straight into a title match with Overeem (even though i think it was proposed at one point) so this might put the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons. Interesting indeed.

I would love to see a good ol fasion HW tourney but doubt it will happen. There was talks of a MW tourney for a title contendor (really should have been done for the title shot but SF were tryna back their golden boy Kennedy.

Any nes of the MW tourney?

I think a heavyweight tournament would be a terrible decision for Strikeforce. If they put Fedor in it his management would not be beyond holding them up for more money to get him to fight in the final if he won the semi-final. Overeem seems to be busy elsewhere nearly all the time so you'd never be sure if he'd hold the whole thing up. I just don't see it happening

Fedor and M-1 would/will definitely cause problems for this tournament. Alistair went to K-1 because he qualified from last year and nobody was in any hurry to step up and fight him. Fedor only wanted a rematch with Werdum and Werdum only wanted the rematch with Fedor. What's Alistair supposed to do until that rematch happens? Sit around and play video games?

well i'd like to see him play 'The Cole Train' if they were to make a Gears of War movie, he is about the right size anyways. :P
