Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Poor ending. We really should have won, 2 sitters and a peno.

That's it should of been 3 points very disappointing

Robbie really has to take the blame for this one, not just the penalty too.

I'm talking about his general play. He has offered nothing except being king moaner to the referee. Even if he didn't miss the peno tonight he was still sh1te. Even though he scored a peno on Friday he was still sh1te.

People were saying Green was sh*te and wanted Gibson on. The result is we played worse. Same thing will happen with Keane. He constantly gets bashed yet imo his plusses outweigh the negatives.

Clown! Missed two sitters as well my friend. He is shocking tonight . Just admit it. What is it with ye dubs and Keane??

How am I a clown for wanting a guy who scored in his last 2 games to feature? The fact he is a Dub is irrelevant. He is our leading goalscorer and would be better than the alternatives.

Why can't we put a team to the sword when we're given the chance? Slovakia were a shambles defensively and we should have taken advantage.

Keane looked dog rough, the second chance really highlighted that

Lack of first team match practice has effected us tbh.

Keane playing regularly would have had a hat trick tonight.

I can't understand peoples sudden hate towards him, idiots tbh.

He's our all time top goal scorer, and nearly always gets us a goal when we need it.

Sure, he's had 2 off games in a row, but give the man a break. He's been living off scraps for the most part.

He would have been better off playing first team football on loan. Even in the SPL for Celtic. Match sharpness has gone completely. A player as good as Robbie needs first team football.

In saying all that though. We will struggle to get to the Euro Finals...

Well, at least we scored. England have'nt yet. 65 mins gone

We may come to regret this result as 2 points dropped. And the poxy Russians saved a penalty in their match too to keep it 1-0. Keane really doesn't look sharp at all.

Anyone else disgusted that the ref didnt blow up on their attack, and did on ours, with a 20-30 seconds left to play on the clock?

He did not have nice touches. Shane Long had. Long outclassed him tonight. He really needs to look at himself. Outshone by his co striker yet again

maybe the reason keane doesnt get a game for spurs is because he shows the same 'i dont need to prove myself' attitude he has with ireland

I'm sorry but Green going off had nothing to do with us playing worse. The rot had already set in. Once we score,, regardless of the personnel we always lose control of the game. Hope Trappatoni's contract isn't renewed after this campaign. His methods are outdated.

Poor performance from a very poor and overrated team. They are useless upfront and cannot create chances or even master the basics. :(

I was dead serious  tongue in cheek....

But Keane was very poor tonight and no one can argue with that and the fact he is not playing regular football at Spurs, is that a defense of his poor performance, if so fair enough but he is so so frustrating and he is not producing for Ireland.

Yep. Muck result quite frankly. Slovakia were very much for the taking. These are the games that will be looked back on achingly.

Keane has to ship most of the blame for tonight.

Sure how can you supply him when he spends the 90 minutes running away from the ball?

Dunphy hit the nail on the head there about keane , "were starting to see the effects of keane not playing for Spurs at the moment" !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,125 ✭✭✭Patser

Let's look on the bright sides here.

Defence was very solid with St Ledger playing very well. Ok Kilbane on JOS offer little going forward, but for all Slovakia's possesion 2nd half they had very few chances to show for it.

McGeady is definately startting to show the spark of something, he's still relatively young so can develope. I'd rather see him going more for a goal sometimes, rather than attempting crosses. 1 goal and I'd reckon he'd be flying. Brill bravery for peno too.

Long shows we do have an alternative to Doyle (or Keane when Doyle comes back), but for a while there literally only seemed to be Doyle and Keane.

And after last Friday, that was a much better performance. I'd settle for 2nd in the group and qualification (and I'd have done it from the start too)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,202 ✭✭✭el dude

So Long and Doyle for thre next game? Doyle's been our best player the last few months, Long played much better than Keane tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,595 ✭✭✭baldbear

James McCathy should be playing. Trapps is a great man for snubbing players.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 75 ✭✭TheJesusWarrant

Robbie Keane should just move in January tbh
He should have gone in the last window, he knew Redknapp didn't fancy him. Plenty of mid to lower table sides would have had him. He'd rather sit on his huge wages. Should have given up his automatic starting spot after such an act of greed.

Robbie has cost us the 3 points tonight. Smug bastard shaking hands after the match as if he contributed anything positive. Any one of 3 chances would have won the match for us.

Don't believe the bollocks that he would have scored if he was playing regular football. Any one of the those chances were harder to miss than score.

Nothing good from this performance. We gave away a lead and had the opportunity to regain it. We were headless chickens (no offense to all headless chickens out there) after the penalty miss.

If Hamsik played better we would have lost.

    The state of Irish football.

FFS, it annoys me how negative people are. I admit that it wasn't a vintage Keane performance, but he was in no way a candidate for dropping. We've a limited pool of talent, Keane is one of our greatest ever (Im not a Dub)

He's in a valley at the moment, but stick with him and he will give returns again.

How can we win any games when we cannot even get shots on target and are afraid to take shots and keep passing the buck instead of taking initative. The goal posts are wide enough! No excuses! There is nobody of the quality of Stephen Ireland upfront in that panel! :(

I have'nt seen anything here about the other matches. Scot 2 Spain 2. Scot were 2 down. 73 mins. Switz 4, Wales 1 - result. England 0, Mont 0, 71 mins

Keane should just head back to Celtic , granted the league is terrible but at least he would not be as ring rusty and might even be coming into games on the back of bagging a few goals !!!

Bunch of f**king wasters imo, so much dead wood in this team including Keane. He's been a great player in the past for Ireland but lets face it he's past it.

I reckon Trap aims for 2nd place in each campaign. He showed the worst Italian team in living memory too much respect, and he is constantly setting out his teams to pick up draws in utterly winnable games. He has no faith in his players and frankly i feel that has to be a pre requisite for any manager
