Being smug

I have several times been accused of being quite smug. Now I have travelled around the world, lived in many different places and had many great experiences. When I talk about them people seem to think I'm a smug p-ick. Is there anything wrong with being smug?

You don't sound boring. Just tedious.

Both are eminently avoidable though, hence the confusion.

I'm normally a reserved, humble chap, inclined to keep to himself and be considerate towards others. Then I come on to this forum, read threads like this, and ... I dunno, something just happens to me. It's enough to make an average guy feel quite smugly superior.
