. any boarding cards are checked no matter what airline you're flying with, again maybe just a lazy crew!

Clarification.......Aer Lingus do not check boarding cards on embarking passengers as they get on aircraft. The last check of boarding card will be at the gate.

Anyway, whens this friggin dispute going to end?

I think it was introduced in the last few months. They check em I think on atlantic flights but deffo not on europe any more from my travels.

Anyone got any news are they still in deadlock. ?

Heard on the news this morning that talk went into the night last night and aggreement was gained on many things - wonder if thats good progress or just a bit of spin.

Against my better judgement I did not book an alternative flight to London with FR - maybe things might be back to normal in 2 weeks before I go. Hate to miss my flight to Vegas, and my first time on BA in many years.

    She's all over.

Looks like EI got what they wanted..... should be peace out there for the next year or so anyway.

Impact seem to have seen the greenfields at last.

National secretary of IMPACT Matt Staunton said that "mosdt of ths issues that came on our radar" were resolved, but some key issues remained to be resolved.

Sounds like the union got some of what they want, I'll wait to see what comes out of the binding arbitration myself.

Indeed. The mere fact that the term "fully resolved" has been used clearly means that both sides have given something and recieved something in return.

No doubt certain factions will claim they achieved more then the other, but at the end of the day the main thing is Aer Lingus as a company is still afloat and hopefully looking towards the future, the staff still have jobs to go back to and customers now have an airline that they can depend on, for the forseeable future at least.

Best of luck to all of them. ;)

great news, but I really have to ask was this a smoke and mirrors dispute by AL to cleaver impact once and for all and the side show cabin crew being suspended for a having a sambo? 301 of them were suspended.....cork on the papers was costing AL 175K a day to operate not including lost bookings wich 80% of the ir crews suspended.

i saw mr greely for AL on the news, "we got our 850hrs"......doesnt look a happy punter imo.

For me this was a fight about putting manners on Impact for once and for all and a better result would to be destroy them.....dont think the latter is achieved by a jot.

A lot of big co's are looking at this dispute re divide and conquer tactics.....I'm glad it's resolved, no doubt bitterness will remain by crew to those who instigated the suspending en masse like little hench men I'm aware.....

    Off to book

What exactly do you mean by the emboldened text.

I saw Grealy too and he looked quite happy/ full 850 hours/no strike during greenfield/ and a very important marker put down to everyone else.

What's not to like about that.

glad it's over though, for the sake of the 95% who were anxious to move the company forward.

I just caught on the end of the radio earlier as part of the deal there is a no strike clause for the duration of Greenfield. Onto a winner there.

should I have said hench women?...my mistake. When you suspend 300 people without pay, it's not a tea and sambos interview imho. Whens the last time a company suspended 300 people en masse? sounds to me nasty nasty.

    Glad it's over too

EI is 75 years old this year, took them that long to grow a pair.

    Other companies would sack them.

However this is not a time for recriminations, I would say everyone out there knows where they stand.

And ,in reality, that is no bad thing.

Most of those that voted for the plan were the ones on industrial action. As had been said numerous times before it was AL that decided to make up their own rules

I generally find that in every dispute there are two versions of events with the truth being somewhere in the middle....

yes, that's the way it usually works out, unless you get myopic people with nothing to lose throwing rhetoric around.

A lot of companies are full of those kind of people, usually public service.Y'know have the safety blanket, but of course couldn't hack it in the big pitch.

there's a one down in the kitchen I have in mind, using the grunts to advance.... ;)

Do cabin crew with Aer Lingus enjoy their jobs anymore? Or has all the disputes and conditions changed the job beyond redemption.
What are the main differences now compared to when they started off. Is it a career that you would recommend?

Well the dispute is long over and staff and managment have moved on, im not cabin crew but from the outside looking in yes they seem to enjoy their jobs most of the time! Nobody loves their job every minute of everyday but i dont hear any major complaints. Conditions have changed but not much and not any different to other airlines, the whole industry has changed though.
The differences now to when "they" started off could totaly vary some crew were hired as far back as the late 70s and some as recent as 2006,7 or 8 ! So they will have different stories to tell! As a career, some do make it their career and are happy and content and thats whats important, others do it for a few years after college and leave to do something else! It comes down to a personal decision at the end of the day and depends on your personal life and situation!
