While you live in Kerry all your life, it's very easy to take your surroundings for granted. But if you just take a second to compare pretty much any part of Co.Kerry (Besides maybe the centre of Tralee) to anywhere else in Ireland or even the World, you'll be hard pressed to find anything that compares to it. So I thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread with photos of various parts of the county (Preferably that you took yourselves) , to show the great scenery we take for granted every day.

Here's a few to get things started:

    attachment.php?attachmentid=130475&stc=1&d=1286706629

    Muckross, Killarney.

    attachment.php?attachmentid=130476&stc=1&d=1286706629

    Tonevane, Tralee.

I'd better post this one of Torc that I uploaded after the Kerry "Monsoon" that we had late last year. I hope we don't get a repeat this year.

I'd still love to go there, haven't discovered it yet! What is the best walk to get there?

The following info I copied from http://www.theringofkerry.com/meeting-of-the-waters.html

"As the name implies the Meeting of the waters is where Killarney's famous lakes converge. The Upper lake , Middle Lake (also know as Muckross Lake) and Lower Lake (Lough Leane) all come together at this beautifull spot. It is a little haven of tranquility and can only be reached by foot or bicycle. Also found in this area are Dinis cottage and "The old wier Bridge". The easiest way to reach the spot is by walking along the well signposted path from Muckross House for approximately 5km. or if you don't feel than energetic then approx one mile beyond Torc Waterfall (direction Kenmare) there is a parking spot on the right hand side of the road. Dinis cottage is signposted from here and the cottage and "the meetings of the waters" is a 15 minute walk from here. Its definitely worth the walk on a fine day.".

The piece I under-lined seems to be the more popular means of access for people.

Much appreciating the underlined part! Have roamed around Muckross quite a bit in my 4 years in Killarney but have never really realised how to get to the meeting of the waters! Thanks for that, will try that hopefully if the weather stays a bit like the last week.

Took these at different heights coming down the Conor pass into Dingle last wednesday morning. It was pretty damn nice. Hard to top Kerry for scenery.

    No, it's really Fenit:

Taken nearly 11 months ago at this stage - Christmas Eve, above Caherconree looking down the peninsula with Inch and Glenbeigh to the left and Tralee bay to the right.

A cold, icy climb to get there but having climbed in the continent can tell you the view is up there with the best of them

Thanks! I have it printed up big (not framed yet) and it's def one of the best I've taken. I try to take the camera with me as often as I can when I'm climbing/mountaineering - in Ireland 8/10 times pics are misty/rainy/totally clagged in shots but the 2/10 times when you get a properly good one really reward persistence.

If anyone does want to get to high scenic places around Kerry (and the rest of the world) I've no hesitation recommending joining Tralee Mountaineering Club - they've activities to suit all levels of activity, are a v. friendly and inclusive bunch
