Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Olympus E-5 due out this month

    http://www.dpreview.com/news/1009/10091415olympuse5.asp

Disappointed with the Megapixel count their competitors have much much higher counts now. That aside the newest Olympus Pens have excellent low noise at high ISO with the new True Pic V engine. This model has a True Pic V+ engine so be interesting to see how that fairs in ISO tests.

Movie mode is only 720p too

    hands on preview:

Seems a bit disappointing for the top of the range model to me

On the face of it the bare stats look a bit underwhelming but then again bare stats don't take pictures;).

Olympus are making a lot of improved processing on the sensor as well as a weaker anti aliasing filter enabling them to maximise the potential detail their lenses provide, whether or not it's PR BS we'll know soon enough but the samples so far look very promising. Time will tell I suppose.

Doesn't more megapixels usually mean more noise?

I'm sure it's a fine camera, I just don't like the basic look of it.

yeah unless your making the sensor bigger, and Olympus are same sensor size for all their DSLRs. They mentioned before that they believed 12.2 megapixels was "enough" for their customers. I had hoped that with their advancing processing they would be able to increase the megapixels. I know its not all about megapixels but it helps alot if your cropping or making really big prints. Personally I do alot of panoramas to boost megapixels for ultra large photos.

Seems they are sticking to what they said now that their latest and greatest DSLR is 12.2
