Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all

as the title says, got approx 2 grand to spend on a road bike thanks to the cycle to work scheme but the more bike shops I go into the more confused I become. Would like something that's goin to last as cycle to work scheme lasts for 5 years if it's still in place then. Ideally would like a ultegra groupset but might compromise for a nice frame. Here are the options so far

Bianchi Nirone 7 alu carbon 2010 with ultegra rear derailler, rest of groupset 105 and tiagra brakes - beautiful frame with carbon forks and seat posts. Under budget at 1650
    http://www.bianchiusa.com/archives/2010/coast-to-coast/via-nirone-7-105/

giant tcr 0 alu with carbon forks, ultegra groupset with 105 chain and cassette and giant wheels 2011 model just under budget at 1900
    http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-GB/bikes/model/tcr.0/7838/45437/

other option is to push budget Up above 2000 which might be an option then I have these option

Paganini full carbon custom built with full ultegra groupset and mavic askium wheels at 2200
merida sculptura full carbon and ultegra at 2500
    or finally
giant tcr com 1 full carbon and ultegra at 2600 with dt Swiss wheels
    http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-GB/bikes/model/tcr.composite.1/7837/45435/

any feedback on any of these bikes or any opinions appreciated or if anyone has other suggestions please feel free
    thanks

Nice, but apparently they're a bit thin on the ground at the moment.

True. It's because they're so smashtastic, yeah baby yeah.

Pretty sure they have at least one SIX hanging up in cycleways at the moment. I couldn't tell you the spec or the price though, but I'd be amazed if it weren't a fair bit more than 2K.

Just 'happened' on this site, it states they are a hand-made Italian brand, but at least there are loads of options, see drop-down-menu on right.

thanks for all replies, more food for thought, the felt bikes posted and mentioned really look good. I am bound by the cycle to work scheme so don't think i can order from germany etc.

anybody any opinions on the giant tcr 0 or the tcr composite 1 or on the merida?

thanks again for all suggestions, think I am edgeing closer to the giant tcr0 as it is in budget and is a 2011 model so not in danger of it being sold out or having issues getting my size. think a carbon bike would be too extravagant for my experience in road biking, only got into it at start of this year.

There is no such restriction in the scheme. I got mine from the UK.

Some companys restrict it, where i work they only have a small list of bike shops that they ll work with, if you stray from the list it just makes it a bit harder, where as the shops on the list accept the vouchers given and we have an online tool for ordering the bike bits

Well, the SL which is listed below it in the pecking order is 2,500 in CSS, so don't count on it. Nice bike though.

That's not a restriction of the scheme, that's a restriction of a scheme.

You can get either of the Boardmans from Halfords which are both Carbon for your budget was going to get ALU myself until i tried a carbon bike and there seem to be no comparison especially with road vibration and acceleration try both if u can but for 2000 i'd go carbon.
