    Thanks for that.

    Reason I asked was that a lad in an electrical wholesalers said to me that he rekoned it was about 35-40mm thick,and I said I didnt think so.

    So 17- 20mm would be a safe and decent estimate.

    No,he actually rekoned and said to me that the diameter of 3 core 10sq SWA was around 35-40mm.

    He must have been getting confused with another type of cable so.


    Or......he just didnt have a clue and was waffling on.

    I can now deffinately say that its 19.1mm diameter.

    40 meter coil of it.

    4 x 70 square swa would probably be just under 40mm diameter i`d say. 3x10 is certainly under 20mm diameter. SWA cables will fit through the hole size of their suitable glands, so thats one way of knowing they are not any bigger than the hole for its gland.
    A 4x240 takes a 63mm gland, and when the hole is drilled for it, the full unstripped cable will fit through this hole. Same with the other sizes.
