Anyone see the orange glow in the sky just now ? 20.15 11/10/10.

Looked like a hot air balloon in the distance to me. My son said it fairly big overhead and it changed direction. I only saw it from a distance.

If Meteor would just give me a signal on land I'd be happy.

That thought process always amazes me.

Hang on, what's that in the sky? I can't quite be sure it isn't a plane, or a star, or the moon....I know, I'll postulate the existence of an extraterrestrial intelligence who have decided to travel thousands of lightyears in order to visit us, not announce their presence, but not particularly hide it either!!!

From talking to people afterwards the general opinion is that it was some type of aircraft. Didnt move like a plane and made no noise like a helicopter would and was too fast to be a hot air balloon and it was able to hover too..

I'm gonna take a wild punt on it being a hot air balloon.

Which is probably the reason why it's called an unidentified flying object.

If you thought that one out a bit more you'd notice how unlikely that is.

texaco are selling those chinese lantern things. or are they called flying lanterns? 1.99 and i'd say you will see loads of them about at that price

  • Registered Users Posts: 141 ✭✭Garlic Suplmnt

Saw something similar to this last night moving over the city, from Portabello at about 9pm. Thought it was a light from a plane at first but it had an incandescent quality to it that made me think 'that's strange'. Seemed to be bobing slightly as it moved eastwards, then it appeared to burn itself out before dissappearing completely.

    Anyone else see this?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 959 ✭✭✭changes

I saw the same thing in donegal last night about 8 pm

Chinese lanterns they are. Not sure about home but over here in England you're almost guaranteed to see at least a couple floating across the sky each night.

Never got that, if you're identifying it as an UFO, how is it unidentified? You just identified it.
