Recommend me some pieces

First off i will just say I know nothing about classical music. Absolutely zilch.


However recently I came across a piece which I really liked. I was flicking through the sky radio channels and I came across a station playing very loud, dramatic music, almost epic in nature. It was instrumental. Have no idea what it was called. I can only describe it as the kind which you hear in movies before battles and the like. Rousing music.

So, despite having made no sense here, I was wondering can anyone recommend pieces like the one which I no doubt inadequately described?

It sounds like the introduction to one of Richard Wagner's Operas or the musical interludes. Really rousing, though I love the operas as well. Bring tears to my eyes sometimes. Also Puccini's "Tosca" and, most of all, Bizet's "Carmen." Very dramatic and moving, though opera is not to everyone's taste. Worth a try, though.
