Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I know they do performance testing (VO2, bloods, power..) in Trinity and UCD but does anyone know if they can be done privately in and around Limerick without paying through the nose for it?

Buddy of mine had it done in UCC, about €150 I think, I can find out the exact details if Cork is close enough for you.

Or get it done in TCD for 60 euro, spend 40 euro on petrol down and back and save yourself 50 euro. ;)

Does anyone have the contact details for the relevant section in for TCD to get VO2, heart rate etc testing done

Pretty much any college with a health science dept and a metabolic cart can do 'testing'

I couldn't find a link for you lot through the DCU website (and spent a little while looking). Particularly I couldn't establish whether testing was for students / by invite or for anyone.

What sort of protocol do you use? (my recent one was a new one on me, done in UCD, loosely described as my log.)

to be honest its not advertised for several reasons. mostly as we deal with elites or people for specific research topics. personal area with cyclists and IM distance athletes.

protocols vary on what you are looking for. no point using a standard protocol in all situations as it probably won't apply. sure you can just run a v-max rest but that data isn't worth that much if I'm honest. not without looking at the needs of the athlete.

I've ran cycling protocols from as short as 10th seconds to 4 hours. depends on what you it they are looking for.

I know the guy who runs this place in Limerick, though I have no knowledge of how much it costs.

Drop us a PM if you're looking to test in TCD. Test costs 60 euro. You'll get a full lactate, VO2, and heart rate profile relative to power output on the bike. You'll also get a full medical assessment pre-test and a blood count, and Bernard will give you some specific training advice based on the strengths and weaknesses of your test results.
