Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Leeds United legends to visit Dublin, The Players Lounge, 11th November.

THREE top international soccer legends that played for the great Leeds United side of the 60s and 70s are coming to Dublin next month.

Norman ‘bites yer legs’ Hunter, super striker Mick Jones and long serving defender Paul Reaney will be at leading sports bar, The Players Lounge in Fairview Strand on Thursday, November 11, where they’ll spend the evening talking to fans, answering questions and signing autographs.

The trio are being brought over to Ireland by Dublin Leeds United Members Club (LUMC), an official regional members club affiliated to the Yorkshire based football club.

Secretary of Dublin LUMC, Noel Rice, says fans are delighted to have three Leeds legends in Dublin for the night.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for fans to meet these three true Leeds legends,” he said.

“All Leeds fans, and indeed anybody with an interest in football, are more than welcome to attend and we’re expecting a big turnout for the event.”

The Legends Night is being held in association with leading Northside sports bar, The Players Lounge in Fairview Strand, which was the venue for something of a coup by Dublin LUMC last year when they brought over controversial Leeds chairman, Ken Bates, to the popular watering hole for a Leeds On The Road event.

Irish Leeds fans now use the pub as a base for their official members club and an estimated 700 fans turned up at the pub for last season’s end of season promotion decider against Bristol Rovers.

The Leeds Legends event will provide fans with an opportunity to not only meet the players but also to ask any questions relating to Leeds United. There will also be an opportunity for photographs and autographs while a raffle and an auction for rare memorabilia will also be held on the night.

The Leeds Legends night takes place at 7.30pm in The Players Lounge, 47 Fairview Strand, Dublin 3. Tickets cost €20 with food served during the interval. Tickets can be bought from The Players Lounge (01-8840126).

    PLAYER PROFILES:

    Mick Jones
Don Revie bought Jones from Sheffield United in 1967 and told him to simply score goals and annoy defenders. Two years later he formed a deadly striking partnership with Alan ‘Sniffer’ Clarke and the duo terrorised defences during Leeds most successful spell in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s.
Jones famously broke his arm in the FA Cup final of 1972 against Arsenal and went up to collect his winning medal in a sling.

    Norman Hunter
Norman 'Bites Yer Legs' Hunter made his name as a tough-tackling no-nonsense central defender.
His nickname stemmed from his strength in tackle and when Hunter himself suffered a broken leg club trainer Les Cocker famously asked “whose is it?” when he was told the Leeds hard man had broken a leg.
Hunter was a member of the Leeds United team of the 1960s and 1970s and was also part of the 1966 England World Cup winning squad.

    Paul Reaney

Paul Reaney was a vital cog in the notorious mean Leeds United defence during the entire Don Revie era. He played over 550 games for the club playing alongside Jackie Charlton in many of them.
Despite his long service and involvement in dozens of famous games and many of the controversies that dogged the club Reaney managed to keep a low profile and is remembered with great fondness by fans.
