Bunch of lads in their late 30's heading down to Westport for a night. Only place I know is the always dependable Matt Molloys but anyone have any ideas for some good pubs to be perched on the high stool at 5pm on a saturday and where do you go for the late drinks - club / late bar / hotel ? -where hopefully we won't feel too old.

    Cheers.

Welcome to Westport. There are many threads on this board listing out the various pubs etc.

Briefly there is a range of pubs from Castlecourt Gradys and West at the bridge, and on up along Bridge St and High Street, and across to Octagon and lower Peter Street. CLew Bay or Mill Times good places to stay. Several bars have late drinking - Cosy Joes Bridge St, John Stauntons Peter Street. The main night club is just below the Castlecourt.

We also have some excellent bookshops...........?

Also Croagh Patrick to climb, Clare Island or Achill for a day trip.

    Enjoy.

If you have some spare time I'd suggest heading out to the Reek for a climb and a few pints after or if your into cycling head to Newport and cycle the 18km Greenway. Each of these are a great way to pass a few hours before hitting the session.

Toby's is another good bar in Westport, located across the road from the Garda station though!
