Spotted that earlier, wonder if it is due to fine dust in the atmosphere as the moon is setting?

Yeah I noticed that too. There was dust on cars also. It seems to be caused by Sahara dust. Someone on the weather forum posted a good chart showing a lot of Sahara dust over Ireland.
