Conduit Koschek on the same card.
Also, Dana has kinda leaked information.
He strongly hinted that Sonnen v Silva II is in Brazil nest summer.

So that leaves the divisions liek this currently

135 - Faber is No1 contender (Dana confirmed)
    145 - Chad Mendez @ 142
    155 - Henderson @ 144
    170 - Diaz @ 143, Conduit next in line
185 - Chael Sonnen, in Sao paulo Brazil in June (Dana hinted ;))
205 - Machida @ 141, Rashad next in line (Dana confirmed)
    265 - Winner of Lesnat v Overeem @ 140

He also said that Henderson is considered for a shot at both 185 and 205

Hope they make some kinda spin-off internet series on Chael Sonnen's adventures in Sao Paulo.

According to sources close to the fighters, Mark Munoz and Chael Sonnen will meet in a number one middleweight contender bout early next year. It looks to be the headliner of UFC on FOX 2 with rumors that Munoz’s teammate, Jake Ellenberger will also be featured against Diego Sanchez.

Rumoured for the Jan 28th Card

  • Registered Users Posts: 635 ✭✭✭pauldoo

risky move for the ufc, munoz v silva is no where near the fight that sonnen v silva is, i think sonnen will take munoz but its risky considering how much money they could make

yeah, it's a big risk. Fair play to Sonnen for not sitting on the shelf for anderson, a la rashad.. he wants to stay active and he's clearly confidant that he can take anybody at 85.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,322 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

    We were discussing this yesterday.
It's still a rumour, Dana flew to Vegas yesterday to sign contracts for Fox 2. should be announced soon.

Chael said on twitter that he accepts Andersons offer to fight in brazil.
If it does fall like that then its Fox 2 in Janurary, and thebn Brazil in June.

I also don't think Munoz gets the title shot if he wins.
Chael wins, he meets silva, nobody can dispute it.
Munoz wins, he is on fight away from a shot and Henderson steps in.

Also, I think Ellenberger v Sanchez is back up fight in case Kos beats Conduit

edit: Forrect v Rampage is rumoured too
    4 televised fights afaik

Hmmmm, Can see Forrest v Rampage the main event, They're gonna market it to fcuk as B.A Baraccus vs A Space Monkey :pac::pac::pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,326 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

I thought Rampage was likely to face Bonner on the Fox card?

I think Munoz would have to get the title shot if he beats Sonnen. He's in the mix already and beating the number 1 contender would have to lift him into the spot. Like Griffin when he beat Shogun.

I don't think Munoz can beat Sonnen though, would go very similarly to Sonnen-Okami.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,322 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

But Hendo is in the mix also, he isn't dropping to 185 unless its for a direct shot.
If munoz loses to Chael, I suppose he'll be out of contention. Hendo could step in then after Chael

hendo v sonnen would be good! although i rather see both v silva

I'd say ESPN UK reckon their deal with the UFC won't be renewed now that they're with FOX in the US and they're getting some value out of their rights to show old UFC's while they last..

The deal is up next August and it's been pretty much confirmed that UFC have no interest in renewing it.

If they don't strike some sort of deal with Sky i'd say FX will take the UFC content.

Sonnen vs Munoz confirmed for UFC on Fox II.

Surprised that it's headlining that event, given it's potential for a 5 round snoozer, and I'm not sure that Sonnen will be a mouth either.

I don't think Sonnen knows how much of a risk he's taking here! I'm pretty convinced he thinks he has this one in the bag.

But fair play to him for not waiting around. Should be a good fight.

Yeah I agree with you. But don't really see Munoz doing anything if he's put on his back. I think he's just a less talented, more likeable version of Chael Sonnen.
