Rumours circulating that the UFC and Palms Casino have cut ties.

Didn't read anything on MMAJunkie yet but there is plenty of sites running the story.
I was reading about that yesterday and apparently they cut Danas credit at the hotel so he severed all ties with them.
A bit of a silly move by them considering Dana is supposedly a huge spender at their hotel and casino not to mention the revenue the UFC brings in when it holds events there.
Also a harsh move from Dana I think. Cutting all ties with the place because of a personal issue seems a bit much in my opinion. I don't know the full details of what went on behind the scenes though.

Yea I mean obviously it's all speculation but the way it's been written up it appears that Dana threw all his toys out of the pram when he didn't get his own way.

On the other hand though, I can't see why the Palms would deny him credit. He's obviously not short of money and if the rumours are true of tipping $100k to dealers/croups/pit bosses and $10k to restaurant waiters - then it's a pretty crummy thing to do on your staff.

Either way, I don't think it was a great move by either parties.

Bisping deserves the shot. He's waited long enough.

Not sure if waiting long enough should get you a title shot?

I think Weidman is the most legitimate threat to Anderson so whatever gets him the quickest title shot the better. If he beats Boestch I say make it happen.

Bisping can fight Belfort and the winner of that can fight Belcher Okami winner, who will then get a title shot.

I don't think it was harsh at all tbh. Vegas runs on credit, comps and how much you spend. The palms cut the credit of all their high rollers apparently. That's their call, they obviously think it makes financial sense to target the middle. But if they want to rebrand their image as more low key, then they can't expect to continue to host UFC cards or other events.

Competition is insane in Vegas, they must of know that cutting his credit essentially ends the relationship they had from a gambling, dining etc point of view.

I totally agree that it was a stupid decision by them to cut the credit of such an important client. But at the same time, I think it was wrong of Dana to react by cutting all the UFC's ties with the casino over a personal matter. I can't say I blame him too much though....the casino brought it on themselves.

He has bigger things to worry about at the minute. Apparently he lost his house in the hurricane, according to Bader on Twitter.
Thoughts go out to @chrisweidmanufc & his family. Lost his home in the storm on the east coast.

While I agree that the casino did nothing to help themselves in this matter, you'd hope Dana as the president of the UFC would be able to separate business matters from personal matters in the whole situation and do what's in the best interest of the UFC... you'd hope.

    News from ESPN:
Featherweight champion Jose Aldo will put his belt on the line on Feb. 2 against former lightweight titleholder Frankie Edgar, UFC president Dana White announced Tuesday night.

White made the announcement on FUEL TV. Shortly thereafter, UFC confirmed the fight on its website.

The bout is slated to take place at UFC 156 in Las Vegas.

Aldo (21-1) was scheduled to face Edgar on Oct. 13 at UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro. But the 145-pound champion was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering a foot injury.

The injury occurred when an automobile hit the motorcycle Aldo was riding.

Aldo will be making his first appearance inside the Octagon since Jan. 14 when he knocked out Chad Mendes in the first round. That fight took place at UFC 142 in Rio de Janeiro.

The champion was scheduled to fight contender Erik Koch on July 21. That fight was postponed when Ado suffered a leg injury.

It was rescheduled for Oct. 13, but Koch would be forced to pull out of the bout with an injury -- and Edgar agreed to replace him.

Edgar (14-3-1) lost the lightweight title in February by unanimous decision to Benson Henderson. He also came up short -- via split decision -- to Henderson during their Aug. 11 rematch at UFC 150.

Edgar makes his featherweight debut against Aldo.

Aldo and Edgar are ranked fourth and eighth, respectively, pound-for-pound by ESPN.com.

Just hope that Aldo gets a taxi anymore from here on in :p

That's also the point I was making.

If they are rebranding as a lower budget casino/hotel then its not really the right place to hold UFC events, or boxing etc, regardless of Dana personally being affected. As it was they were one of the lower tier places anyway, thats why they got TUF finale and not championship. Maybe the fact that he was personally affected was the catalyst in the decision. But that doesn’t mean it’s any less the right decision in a business sense.

Once the decision is to change location is made, and is the right decision. I personally don’t see anything wrong with using the move as leverage with the new venue. Ultimately the financial success of the company is worth more.

I wonder will a win over Aldo and Championship belts in 2 different weight divisions get Frankie the respect he deserves and doesn't get from some quarters..............

    I still doubt it!

Yeah I doubt it. Although maybe GSPs recent interview might persuade fans. He
says Edgar is P4P #1link . Dana was always saying he was top 5 P4P too.

Dana, Jones and Sonnen had a facebook chat and somebody was kind enough to type out these quotes.

    http://www.mmacanada.net/2012/10/quotes-todays-live-facebook-chat-ufc-president-dana-white/
UFC President Dana White participated in a live Facebook chat via Metro PCS. Here are some of the highlights of that call, and some are very interesting topics!

Dana White: I’m into women’s MMA now. We’ll see what happens.

Dana White: Of course we’re going to resign Anderson Silva after the last fight on his contract. We will resign Anderson Silva and soon.

Dana White: We tried to get Fedor and he is absolutely retired. He won’t fight anymore.

Dana White: I guarantee you Anderson Silva vs Jon Jones will absolutely happen.

Dana White: Andrei Arlovski will have to beat someone really good to get back to the UFC.

Dana White: The 185 pound division is very exciting right now. I don’t know who’s next for Anderson yet. We’re waiting because he possibly wants to fight Georges St. Pierre. We’ll see what happens.

Dana White: To say GSP vs Anderson Silva doesn’t make sense, doesn’t make sense. Anderson Silva can fight Georges St. Pierre and Jon Jones. They both make sense.

Dana White: We’re doing 12 events in Brazil next year. I wish we could do Brazil every weekend. It’s Werdum and Big Nog the coaches for season two in Brazil.

Dana White: I don’t know what Mousasi’s deal is with Strikeforce.

Dana White: Yes, we’re definitely coming back to Boston. I’ve been working on that lately. We’ll be coming back in 2013.

Dana White: We’re gonna do it (Joe Rogan’s podcast) someday.

Dana White: We’ve talked about Tyrone Spong. We’ll see what happens.

Dana White: The first day of filming was interesting with TUF between Jones and Sonnen.

Dana White: I called Dan Henderson the day before yesterday. He doesn’t even know how his knee feels yet or if it’s 100 percent yet. He’s not healthy yet.

Dana White: Anything is possible if Ronda and Cyborg end up coming to the UFC (coaching TUF)

Dana White: I don’t think Jon Jones has any interest in going to heavyweight right now.

Dana White: UFC on Fox 5 sold out already. I’m very excited for it.

Dana White: Nick Diaz has to get through his suspension and get relicensed before we think about who he’s fighting or what he’s doing.

Dana White: Irish event in 2014 I promise.

Dana White: Yes Fedor is one of the greatest heavyweights ever. Is he one of the greatest mixed martial artists ever? You’re out of your mind.

Dana White: We’ve got a fight planned for Cowboy Stadium but it’s not Jon Jones vs Chael.

Dana White: Ariel Helwani is a pain in the ass. He’s always texting me asking me ****.

Dana White: TUF Mexico is coming soon. We’re working on Mexico hard.

Dana White: Yes we’re scouting Indian talent.

Dana White: 170 and 155 are the deepest divisions right now.

Dana White: Yeah I love Columbus. It was always a great city for us. We’ll come back soon.

Dana White: Yes Bonnar will be retiring now.

Jon Jones: I killed Chael in picking my team.

Jon Jones: Chael is not too bad. I thought he was gonna be all trash talk but he’s been pretty decent and pretty classy. It’s been a great show.

Jon Jones: I got Frank Mir for jiu jitsu, Bowman, Jon Woods, Bubba Jenkins

Jon Jones: I don’t hate Chael any more. He’s been okay. Maybe he’s setting me up for later.

Jon Jones rolls his eyes and points to Dana when he brings up Jones vs Anderson Silva

Jon Jones: I want to beat Chael at his own game. I want to take him down and pound him out. If he decides to stand up, I’ll kickbox the snot out of him.

Jon Jones: I’ll definitely move up to heavyweight probably around the end of 2013. I’ve got a nutritionist so my weight cuts have been easier. I walk around thinner.

Jon Jones: I’m not disappointed I didn’t get the Dan Henderson fight. I think it’s inevitable. He’s one of the greatest fighters in history. Hopefully I defeat Chael, defeat Dan Henderson and who knows what happens after that.

Dana White: Once I get my ear thing sorted out, I’ll do the video blogs again. I haven’t been in the mood lately.

Jon Jones: GSP vs Anderson Silva will definitely be one of the greatest fights of all time. GSP has all the tools to beat Anderson SIlva. he has the wisdom on the feet and he’s got one of the fastest double legs with the best timing in MMA. Anderson is on the level of greatness.

Jon Jones: GSP is a winner and Carlos is on my team right now. He’s working extremely hard to beat GSP. He’s a champion from WEC and UFC. He’s just a champion. I have no comment on who I think will win it.

Dana White: I highly doubt we’ll see Batista in the UFC.

Dana White: We plan on bringing Eddie Alvarez to the UFC. We’ll see what happens.

    Jon Jones: I like Gustafsson.

Dana White: How can you say Anderson Silva would duck anybody (reference two Weidman). Believe me, he ain’t ducking anybody.

Jon Jones: I still don’t like Dana. It was very hard to reconcile. (joking)

Dana White: Fabio Maldonado is doing better. He’s tough.

Jon Jones: Cormier is a better wrestler than me but it’s not a wrestling match.

Chael Sonnen: I’m absolutely strong enough to hold a stadium show. I was jealous of St. Pierre and Shields 55,000 in Toronto.

Chael Sonnen: I did not attend Anderson Silva’s barbecue

Chael Sonnen: I think Jon’s a pretty good guy.

Chael Sonnen: The chicken Jones pizza is for sale right now in West Lynn. It’s actually quite delicious

Chael Sonnen: I haven’t spoke to Dan since the fight got accepted. Yes I talked my way into this fight but the word I used was “yes” by accepting it. There aren’t many people that want to fight Jones other than me.

According to this he said 2010 for sure

    http://mmajunkie.com/news/18435/dana-white-promises-ufc-will-return-to-dublin-in-2010.mma
Irish MMA fans rejoice – the UFC is coming back to The Emerald Isle in 2010.

During a Wednesday press conference for this weekend's "UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy" event, UFC president Dana White told the gathered crowd that the promotion would return to Ireland before the end of the year.

"We're going back to Dublin this year for sure," White said.

White didn't offer any further specifics on the promotion's plans for an Irish show.

The UFC has visited the Republic of Ireland just once before. In January 2009, the promotion visited The O2 in Dublin where 9,369 boisterous fans turned out for UFC 93, a card that featured a Dan Henderson split-decision win over Rich Franklin in the evening's main event.

The night was also marked by a pair of "Fight of the Night" awards as Marcus Davis' win over Chris Lytle and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua's third-round stoppage of Mark Coleman were each awarded with a bonus.

In June 2007, the UFC visited Northern Ireland's largest city, Belfast, for UFC 72. Despite just 7,850 fans attending the event, the event was noted for its electric atmosphere.

Franklin also handled main-event duties that night in a unanimous-decision win over Yushin Okami.

As for U.S. locales, White handled the typical battery of requests with his typical "We're coming everywhere" response. However, the UFC exec did re-affirm the organization's plans to visit Oakland, Calif., later this year and said Orlando was also a potential location for a future fight card.

No, that's not why. There are plenty of things on the prohibited list that are legal in loads of countries, it doesn't change their status in sport.

Well that's not the reason and importantly, shouldn't be the reason.
Athlon commision are there to uphold the integrity of the sport, not uphold the law.

In Dave Herman's case, they found metabolites in his system - not the a active drug. So the ban is dubious as its not illegal out if competition.
